GlockuFy
So the issue with modding FNV for me is..... there are tons of AMAZING mods, and I would love to somehow be able to have them all   , but that's not possible obviously. So I have priorities on what I want to do with FNV, and I would like some advice on a good combination. Sure I can look up a YT video and get a combination of things that people have done, but they don't have the same goal as I do, so I was hoping that someone who was more experienced could possibly help me come up with some sort of list of mods that would appease my goal! Tonight I am going to try to come up with my own list and I will edit this post and add it in, but I would like some suggestions from someone who has more experience in this area. I have an i7-7700 w/ a GTX 1070. Priorities (in order)Retexture and make FNV look like a game from this year as best as possible (I do not like the "growth" retexture mods, anything that adds too many plants is a nogo for me. I like the classic looks of the Mojave.)Extra Quests!More weaponsMore armorBody Modifiers NPC mods (something similar to the Skyrim mod that makes NPCs actually do things that make sense lol)Animation mods (last priority honestly, it's not super important that the character bobs while in FPP, or that the guns recoil looks better, etc..) I don't necessarily need anything other than these things here, but I am open to any suggestions to what people might think make it better. I plan on making this run with the DLC included because when I played it back years ago I never made it past the OWB DLC. So- I never actually completed the game, and I want to complete it with extra quests to do, and just an overall expansion of the game. FNV is a game that I enjoyed way more than others and is in the top 5 games of all time for me personally. So I really want to enjoy this :) Thanks for any responses I get in advance, I look forward to getting this running :))
madmongo
Just a quick note about texture mods. FNV is a 32 bit game. By default, it will only access 2GB of memory. It doesn't matter if you have 40 GB in your machine, the game will only use 2 GB. You can double that to 4 GB with the 4 GB patch, but that is as far as you can go with it. The game is also a bit buggy, and its texture caching system seems to leak memory. The typical symptoms of this are that the longer you play, the slower the game gets. Eventually, the game completely runs out of memory and crashes. Higher resolution textures make the game look prettier, but at the same time, they make this problem worse. This means that you have a choice to make. You can go for a prettier but less stable game, or an uglier but more stable game. For some people, the game's outdated graphics are just too hard on the eyes, and they are willing to suffer through more frequent crashes. I go the opposite direction. I don't use texture replacers and I keep the graphics quality in the video settings down to the point where I can play the game all night without it crashing (usually). If you can't stand the game's outdated graphics, that's fine, just be aware that if you use higher quality graphics, the game will start slowing down earlier for you and you are more likely to suffer from memory-related crashes. dubiousintent
We've learned a lot since the game was first released. You may want to review the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article for things you may have forgotten or never knew. -Dubious-

It's not that I necessarily can't stand the graphics, but I would prefer to retexturize it, it's pretty much the top thing I'd like to experiment with. I don't really mind having to restart often, if it becomes a big hassle I could always cut some of them out and then start a new save. We've learned a lot since the game was first released. wfandrews
I would recommend NMCs Texture Pack For New Vegas for your textures, my rig is not as robust as yours and that mod runs fine for me. Whatever texture mod you end up using I highly recommend running Ordenador's Optimize Textures tool.
dubiousintent
When choosing a texture pack such as NMC which comes in different image sizes, it will make a difference as to which "size" you pick. Check the descriptions carefully as to what that mod's author means by such terms. You might also want to see the wiki "Display resolution versus Image Size" article. If you add any VWD/LOD textures (such as NMC or Ojo Bueno), please see the 'Checklist Item #15 & 16' entries in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide regarding the need to run both TES4LL and FNVLODGen. Also recommend you read the 'LOD/VWD Texture Packs' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article first. -Dubious-
