Nora always naked

I have mentioned this before and I have tried a lot of ideas and things but nothing to date has worked.

At the very beginning of the game the female character (you choose male or female) Nora is naked and she stays naked throughout the game. Mostly she will not show vaultsuits but some other clothing such as the leather outfit by one moder will work but I first have to go find it to get it on her. Armor will appear on her and with a vault suit she looks like she is stark naked but wearing armor.

Now the latest. I installed the mod where Nora becomes a companion and you find her in the commonwealth. Cool huh. Except the problems affecting this character when she is a player character not affects her as a companion. In other words she is stark naked.

I have tired so many things even to starting a game without any mods at all but she is still naked.

I have no ideas left as to what I could do.

Anyone have any ideas as to what a fix might be? I think and suspect that the code that creates her in game is the same as the one used for her as a companion so the base code for this character has been changed/corrupted but I cannot for the life of me locate where it is in game.

One more thing. I have, numerous times, deleted the game and went for a fresh install. But it does not matter. Nora is still naked.

Does anyone have a simple solution to fix this problem I would love to hear it.

when you done a fresh install, did you delete everything in the data folder, as un-installing via steam will only delete fallout 4, it wont delete mods or anything connected to mods. so basically you delete absolutely everything in both the fallout 4 root folder, and data folder.

 

fresh install simply means you un-installed fallout 4 via steam and re-installed it via steam.

 

as it sounds like the mods was not deleted. also can you list your mods. so i can see if their is a potential mod that may be causing this issue, their are mods that can hide clothing whilst still granting you the benefits of wearing said clothing. which is what this issue sounds like.

 

also are you using any body mod for females (such as CBBE)

Actually at one point I did uninstall all the mods and did a fresh install of the game. I check and no mods were installed. Just basic game. I then installed all of the mods after clearing out a number that were no longer useful or wanted. It made no difference at all.

I am convinced that if I could find the file for Nora and get a fresh file without corruption it would probably work if I installed it correctly.

Unfortunately I have done a lot of hunting but have not been able to find that specific file. The reason I am hunting for it is because I had just installed the mod that allows Nora to survive and the male character must find her so the two can continue together through the Commonwealth. Still nude. So I think that if I can find that part of the code that directly relates to Nora and her composition I might be able to fix the no clothing issue.

Thanks for the reply. I have been fussing with this for several months now and just want to fix it.

As a side note: Nora is not the only female with the nude issue but it is NOT all females in the game. Just one in four are nude. The others have clothing on. This is the crazy part of it all. It makes no sense. Unless there is some code that gives bodies to certain females and different bodies to others.

hmm that is very weird indeed, their are mods that do give all females different bodies, but since you mention you deleted all mods, that should of fixed the issue or made it a non factor, assuming you had said mod in the first place.

 

how are you installing mods btw, are you using Mod manager, or NMM or manual ?

 

i have honestly never heard of this issue, especially on a completely vanilla game. other things i would think that would cause the issue, would be deleted meshes and or textures, but then these would give a whole other issue, and would have course effect all female npc not just random ones, unless of course you had a mod that changes all female bodies to different ones.

I mostly had used NMM but now that Bethesda is providing mods on their website I have been using those while still using the NMM issued mods. All I can think of is that the change I made, whatever it was and by what means, added code that would not only change the bodies on one of four and then show them as naked. A good example of this is when my character (male) enters the vault and there are people there. All males have vault suits on and two of the females that rode down on the elevator have clothes. The one who is standing with her husband is naked and fat. The lady who hands out the vault suits is also naked. Once in the area with the chambers two other females are naked but that is it.

This is why I am so stumped on this. Apparently the game has several bodies it uses but why one with more weight would be one of those without clothes doesn't make any sense at all. You would think that modifications like I did would effect all of the bodies but this is an example that there are probably four (just a guess on my part) bodies that are used for the females just to give a sense of difference in the game.

right, i believe the issue is something to do with the weight slider. in other words if the character is at maximum weight, the clothing disappears.

 

as a test, find a female that is naked, Open Console, Click on the Naked Npc and Type: slm 14

 

Note: if this does not work for the npc, then you will need Amazing Follower Tweaks for its Sculpting Mechanic, which basically gives you character customization for any NPC, saying that this mod might even fix the issue anyway, Defintely worth downloading. (however as the name would suggest, this mod only effects Followers/Companions)

 

now in the character creation menu for the npc, go to body - and change her body size to the far bottom left of the triangle, (too make her completely skinny)

 

now click on apply, and when you exit the character creation see if she is now wearing her clothing

 

not sure if fallout 4 follows the same rules as skyrim, but i remeber in skyrim their is 2 nifs for every armor, one for 0 body weight and one for 100 body weight (max size) so if the nif for the maximum body size was deleted or never made, the armor/clothing would be invisible for characters at maximum weight thus making the character naked. and vice versa

 

basically it would look like this

 

test.0.nif <-- body weight 0 - (if this was deleted, any character at any weight below maximum would be naked)

test.1.nif <-- body weight 100 - (if this was deleted, any character at maximum weight would be naked)

 

so i think that this could be related to your issue.

 

however skyrim only had a basic slider for body size, unlike fallout 4 which as a much more complex body size slider, so thats why i am not sure if the same rules would apply.

open console as in open the dev console that only pc games have by pressing the tilde key or the @ Key.
