How to Mod this game?

I tried modding this game in a simple way but failed. I wanted to get rid the files, hornets and kettle eating sounds with no luck. Is there a step by step some were?

I solved it! Needed to be delete eating in the ui.xml to stop the sound from the kettle. Odd but it worked.
