Saving issues

Alright ever since I got my copy of photoshop many years ago, I have never been able to open files larger then 2048 and I can not save a .dds larger then 2048.

 

So can someone point me to a solution or a program I can use to convert a .psd file to 8.8.8.8 ARGB 32 bpp | unsigned I currently use DDS Converter 2 which is fine for my needs... Except on the 8.8.8.8 ARGB 32 bpp | unsigned I can not seem to find that option on it.

 

My Photoshop is currently 7.0, old I know but I can not afford anything new lol.

What about Paint.Net with the PSD plugin? http://psdplugin.codeplex.com/
