RelicKylias
I'm buying a PAL Megadrive as mine has been misplaced by my grandparents and I'm wondering is it better to get the...Original Megadrive or The Megadrive II. I used to have a Megadrive II, and still have the games. Thanks! :)
bluekatt
doesnt really matterthe orginal is slightly bigger and has no built in stereo other then the phone in plug on the front the earliest megadrives had a region free biossome early games dont work correctly with later megadrives some later games refuse to boot on an early megadrive if you have a mega cd the megadrive 1 needs an extension piece to fit on it and if you have a 32x you need several brackets ( not sure if thats for 1 or 2 or both ) but who has that waste of plastic anyway ?basically it doesnt really matter get the one you can get they will both do their job just fine the chances you encounter any of the refusers is very small ( if you can get a cdx for cheap buy it ! ) the megadrive 3 is a very dumbed down unit it wil only play md games nothing else you cant hook it up to the megacd or 32x

ANd yes I know how bad the Megadrive III is. When I was first looking into this on Wikipedia, and saw the cheap looking "Genesis lll" I thought it was a pirate version, because of how cheap it is.One more question though, is the MGD2 the One where the Sega CD plugs into the Side of it, but is attached at the bottom, thanks again! bluekatt
no the genesis 3 is a real lisenced product majesco is the manufacturer i think but licensed by sega both mega cd's attach to the side the mega cd 1 is the unit that is placed under the megadrive with a mechnical tray loaderthe mega cd 2 is a toploader with the cd rom unit next to the megadrivethe megacd 1 is the more impressive looking the megacd 2 the more reliable if your going for a megadrive 2 its best to go with a megacd 2 as well they wil work regardless of which one you use the megadrive 2 + megacd 2 combination just looks better

Javalin
Aww! You're making me want to dish mine out of the loft! Lmao. Streets of Rage FTW! I believe you can get a megadrive for about £30 with 100+ games from GameStation. But I'm not sure :P

bluekatt
it looks cheap and tacky because it is this machine was released as a very cheap low grade console at the assend of the life span of the megadrive in brazil ( 1998\99 ) and the height of the dominance of the playstation but its good enough for what it doesit at least wont cost you an arm and a leg like the nes 2 does
worm82075
Hey you wanna know something really neat, you can own broken classic consoles and a bunch of broken cartridges and it gives you the right to have all of them emulated on your PC legally. As long as you own the originals it matters not what condition they are in. So get yourself some classic garbage and emulate them till your hearts content with a clear conscience.
