Why Fallout 4 does not load "json" mods. I'm using NMM.

Posted (edited)

i believe you need F4SE (Fallout 4 Script Extender) and Looksmenu (if the .json files you are referring to are character presets, then you definitely need both files mentioned here)

F4SE = http://f4se.silverlock.org

download - Extract - Copy all contents to your fallout 4 root folder, (overwrite where necessary)

from their on out, launch the game via the f4se_loader (located in the fallout 4 root folder) to load .json files.

Looksmenu: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12631

install via nexus mod manager

Ensure that you've manually installed F4SE and that you also have the Looksmenu mod (twistedfatal linked to it in his post) installed via NMM. You'll need them both to be able to select the preset you want to use. Don't start the game via NMM though, start it from the F4SE shortcut. Make sure that Fallout4, F4SE and Looksmenu are all updated to the latest available version. You might also want to make sure you're using the latest version of NMM, available via Github (it fixes an issue with NMM that can cause mods not to be installed correctly)
