kevkiev
.... The Dawnguard castle sure looks like it's somewhere in the Rift. ... I remember that, in my first playthrough, I encountered a big and non-functioning wall/gate somewhere (iirc) at the end of a road in the southeast portion of Falkreath hold (emphasis on the "south" - not too far from the Rift, and maybe actually within that hold). Kinda like at a 45 degree angle SE of Helgen. It kinda reminded me of that pile of bus parts and debri in FONV that turned out to be the entrance to Lonesome Road. Anyways, the trailer looks pretty cool. I'll definitely be picking it up, assuming that the feedback I read from others indicates that it's not too buggy (so I won't be getting it right away). scottmack
I have to be honest I was never really intrested in vampires much so its not greatly appealing to me personally but if the Vigilantes of Stendarr get their foot in the door and I get a cool hat I guess it could be quite some fun turning my character into Van Helsing.
sajuukkhar9000
That purple-ish swirly thing sure looks an awful lot like Alduin's portal to Sovngarde. Does it lead there or maybe to someplace else in Aetherius? It can't lead to Oblivion, given the events of the previous game, can it?So long as the portal cannot be used to launch an invasion from Oblivion into Mundus it can exist It would be the same rule that Sheogorath's portal in Shivering Isles works on, since he cant use it to invade Mundus it is ok. Glhadiator
I am looking froward to the DLC. If (big IF) Beth incorporates much of the Vampire lore that exists out there we could have some pretty cool powers to play with! If they just employ the ole "I vant to suck your blood" theme it might be pretty lame. I hope not. At least we aren't too far away from finding out. Count on me to wait and see what the bugginess factor is before I install it tho. Hopefull it von't suck too bad.
BrettM
I remember that, in my first playthrough, I encountered a big and non-functioning wall/gate somewhere (iirc) at the end of a road in the southeast portion of Falkreath holdI know of three roads that appear to lead on but stop you from following them. One ends just past Refugee's Rest in Eastmarch, heading into Morrowind. Another dead-ends southeast of the Black Briar Lodge in the Rift at a wall with an open gate that you can't pass. I'm not sure if that one leads into Morrowind or Cyrodiil. The one you're thinking of dead-ends just east of Southfringe Sanctum in Falkreath hold at a wall with a closed gate, and likely leads into Cyrodiil. The gate SE of Black Briar Lodge seems like the best candidate to lead to a castle like the one in the trailer, if it is indeed in the Rift. I'm not sure what to make of the vampire castle. It does have a kind of Hjaalmarch-ish feel to it, so perhaps it's tucked away out in the swamp. Considering that's where we also find Movarth's Lair and that Morthal is home to a mage with a cure for vampirism, it would be a good location. Maybe Falion will finally get a chance at a role in the story, and we will learn the reason for his mysterious trips into the swamp.
PsxMeUP
Looks interesting. I like the whole Vampire or Dawnguard choice. Kinda odd seeing mods they did in the brainstorming session, though. That session was supposed to be just them screwing around. Does that mean the DLC is some stuff slapped together while they were screwing around? njits
Well the fortress clearly lies in a snowy area, so my guess it's somewhere behind the throat of the world, that rocky area that leads you to Riften past Orphan Rock. They could easily tuck a cave entrance or road that loads to some hidden Dracula like castle. Remember the dude saying "you found our hidden fortress..." it's probably hidden to most of the people of Skyrim and beyond.
BrettM
Good point, njits. Perhaps that road that dead ends past Southfringe Sanctum, since that's in a snowy area not far from the area you suggest. Bloodlet Throne is also in that area. Though the bit with Odie diving through the ice looks more like the north coast in the vicinity of Winterhold, and there are plenty of islands out that way that could be used for a castle site if they just pushed the border a bit further north than we can currently go. I still have my fingers crossed that Falion gets into the story somewhere, since the swamp would be such a great place for graveyard stuff. sajuukkhar9000
if one takes a closer look at the location of the Vampire fortress one will se it is parctically on a island surrounded by water. this places it location NORTH of Skyrim not near orphan rock or anything. GoodfellowGoodspring
I don't see why the trailer would 'impress' PC Skyrim players, at best im expecting the expansion/DLC to add new enemies/follower minions like seen in the gamer jam, a few new ruined buildings, fauna and flora, quests and gameplay features from the crossbow etc. The Nexus holds loads more potential to some DLC which is probably going to be marketed towards the consoles so that players can get 'more cooler armour and stuff' rather then PC gamers who already have this and want a lot more for their £13.00/$20.00 such as the abilty to explore Cyrodill or something which hasnt been seen before. The trailer looks biased towards evil based characters as well, which means you would need to start a new save just for the DLC which isnt very logical because it just shows how restrictive the content is.. The trailer also seems to be overly cinematic to make it seem more exciting and doesn't explain what the DLC will contain and it includes mounted combat as a 'feature' even though its being released in patch 1.6! & i raged at MicroShaft's cheek to put in a lame kinect ad in at the end, im happy enough shouting aloud i don't need hardware to do it.. -_-
