Xaxidoro
While I have been tinkering with the NIF format for a long time, most of my experience comes from just reading tutorials rather than understanding the format to the basic level. That said, a mesh I was messing around with, a body based on Type3, has been crashing my game on load. After some workarounds I still haven't gotten it to work whatsoever; I am not sure what is wrong with the file. I was wondering if someone reading this would be an expert on the NIF format and could tell me what is wrong with it, if not help me fix it. Contained in this downloadable ZIP is the blender file I was using to edit it, and the exported NIF: WARNING: NSFWhttps://drive.google.com/open?id=14rSHF3a13UPzCodt28ZLwe4oohx35Z0o I apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong section or if download links are not permitted. M48A5
What version of Blender did you use?
Xaxidoro
I used Blender 2.79 for this particular mesh. I wanted to test out whether the newer NIF scripts could hold up to the old ones yet. Though, I'm at the point where I made a lot of edits I'm no longer willing to redo in old Blender, which is why I wanted some advice or method to fix this mesh. M48A5
Export your mesh as a .blend, import it into Blender 2.49 and export it as a .but with FNV settings.
Xaxidoro
I haven't been able to open .blend files from 2.6+ in Blender 2.49; any other ways to move the file from 2.6+ to 2.49? Additionally; I don't believe I've ever heard of a .but file. Is that just a typo?
M48A5
I missed a word. There should be .nif with FNV settings. One of the reasons I don't like using a tablet.oI opened the.blend file you have linked with Blender 2.49 without a problem. You are not going to import a file, but open one.Be prepared when you do open it, it will be enormous and you will have to zoom out. Xaxidoro
Opening the .blend file in Blender 2.49 deletes all the faces from the mesh; I don't believe that'll work... Does anyone else have any ideas? EDIT:Maybe it'd provide a hint on what's wrong, but I attempted to export the mesh as an OBJ to remove all possible NIF data from it, then I imported it to Blender 2.49 and rigged it back to the original body by copying weights. Even then, after exporting it, the body NIF crashed my game on load. EDIT2:At some point I got really sick of this, and tried to import a working NIF, and immediately export it without modifying the contents. This actually also causes crashes on load. This would mean that my export options are wrong, at least. Can anyone post a screenshot of working NIF export options for body meshes in Fallout New Vegas?
