GestaltGaul
I don't understand the smithings mechanics in the CK. I can infer that the vanilla perks only act as a requirement to link to recipes for crafting, they don't contain anything except the stuff it needs to allow 'modify tempering health' to 200%. How does it confine that to just the 'steel items' though? I want to turn 'Steel Smithing' tempering modifier to the value of 1.20 but for all items in the game. I attached my mod concept in the image to help explain what I'm trying to achieve.
cumbrianlad
All I know about improving weapons and armour with the relevant smithing perk is that it uses the keyword system and each weapon or piece of armour in the game needs to have the appropriate keyword. For example, if a steel sword does not have the keyword WeapMaterialSteel, having the steel smithing perk will not give any extra improvement when tempering it. It's why weapons like Dawnbreaker can't be improved more with the ebony smithing perk, even though ebony is used to temper it... Bethesda missed the keywords off some weapons and armour. I'd have no clue as to how to get the steel modifier to affect every weapon and piece of armour in the game other than removing all the non-steel keywords and adding the correct steel weapon or armour keyword to each and every item in the game.
