Red rocket door hydraulics still work after 200 years.

But hey, none of the trucks, cars, buses, trains, etc work anymore.

Not all of them! The Nuka Express works just fine!

I think rubber tires would degrade, too. Even those which are just lying around. Those on cars probably faster.

Pre-war food. Canned food is one thing, but what about Sugar Bombs? No matter the contents, the paper box wouldn't last! You'd need to keep it somewhere cool, dry, and away from insects for the whole 200 years. Or are the boxes made from plastic?

What about newspapers? The Boston Bugle is everywhere, but newspaper is usually made from the thinnest, cheapest paper.

Also, thinking back to that question about pre-war clothes: I said that it could remain intact before, but I'm no longer so sure. If kept somewhere cool and dry, maybe, but if not? I've seen clothes that old in museums, but I have no idea inhowfar they are still usable.

You could maybe say something like: as the bombs fell, the radiation and the initial fallout killed almost all bacteria and insects. The stuff which was just lying around, or was on the people who died right away was sterilized. Only decades later bacteria started creeping in from less-irradiated areas and slowly adapting. So that the decay was kinda postponed, because it took some time for the organisms causing decay do actually reach the area in question.

Edit: also, radiation itself can cause certain plastics to become hard and brittle. Even prolonged exposure to UV can do that.

All of you at this point are making points that isn't something Bethesda themselves do but Black Isle/Interplay and Obsidian have done as well, you understand that right? These small details that no one really cares about isn't a Bethesda only issue but something that has been consistent throughout the series.

This point this thread is just constant nitpicking over small stuff.

The point is this is getting so far into "complaining about stuff that is consistent in all the games" that it's not a Fallout 4 problem like the thread is suppose to be about, it's pointing out stuff the series has been doing for the entirety of it's running.

I think its just a bit of fun , something to talk about. I don't suppose Bethesda will be crying while they count their millions.
