ElioraArin
So I was working away on a mod & the CK crashed - no surprises there! But when I went to reload the CK crashed while initializing, & continued to do so with every attempt. I have tried restoring my Skyrim folder to a vanilla state, reinstalled the CK, reinstalled Mod Organizer - but now when I try to load a mod in the CK I get a message saying MASTERFILE: LOCALIZATION: Zero entries or empty block size read from strings file STRINGS/Hearthfires_ENGLISH.STRINGS.Strings will be missing - & it crashes. Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix it? It was working just fine when this suddenly happened out of nowhere! Edit: All the info I have found so far seems to point to the ini file allowing mulitiple files, loads & adding in the DLCs - but obviously I had already done that or I wouldn't have been able to use the CK for the last few years! This just randomly happened out of nowhere. Edited August 13, 2018 by ElioraArin
ElioraArin
So when re entering the info in my vanilla ini I forgot the s in Hearthfires, with that fixed I no longer get the error message but am still crashing during load just like before I reinstalled everything ... OH MY GOD!
Crendagord
That thing is really a s**t compared to the TESCS especially on W10... If that can help, here is what I have in my SkyrimEditor.ini: [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 SArchiveList=Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa SInvalidationFile=ArchiveInvalidation.txt iRetainFilenameOffsetTable=1 iRetainFilenameStringTable=1 iRetainDirectoryStringTable=1 bCheckRuntimeCollisions=0 bUseArchives=1 SResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa, Dawnguard.bsa, Hearthfires.bsa, Dragonborn.bsa Take also a look at sLanguage at the top of the file. I'm french and if it is set to english, the CK crashes or refuses to launch
ElioraArin
Thanks. After re downloading everything it just seems to be the one esp the CK originally crashed on that I can no longer load, I have no idea what would have caused it but I'm extremely annoyed with myself for not making back up copies every now & then - I don't have a lot of time to mod anymore but I had been working on it for quite some time whenever I could & now I've lost everything, I can't even open it with a new file active to copy as much as possible into the new esp :(
agerweb
The CK keeps about 10 backups in the Skyrim/backup folder, but these cycle and are overwritten; but might be worth a try. Have you tried getting it into TesVEdit.
ElioraArin
Oh thank you, I will take a look at the backup folder. I haven't tried TES5 as I've only ever used it to clean, never to mod. But I will take a look & see if I can get into it that way.
agerweb
Check for errors in TesVEdit assuming you can load it.
