I was reading on justpushstart.com that originally it was only going to be for games for windows live so some people made a petition and now all the download versions will use steamworks, retail copies still get G4WL though.. Not a huge deal at all considering I get all my games from steam, happily I might add. Haven't played this game on the console. Recently it's been indicated (though not proven) that Dark Souls might not be only for GFWL, which is what Dan3345 is mostly talking about.
