Tracked file list with categories

Hi everyone,

I found this topic via google and was rather surprised that it hasn't received any answers. I have the same problem as Nadimos, and I'm sure that many many other Skyrim players do too, namely that we have dozens or even hundreds of tracked mods and it's hard to keep an overview. I even go through my tracked mod list regularly and kick out several dozen each time (which I decide ultimately not to use or which I have installed meanwhile and can therefore remove). However, there are so many gems out there that I don't / can't install at the moment for various reasons, be it compability issues, mod limit, waiting for updates, or simply uncertainty. And more keep coming!

It would really be great if the Nexus site could provide the option to create categories which we can sort our tracked mods into. As every player will have different kinds of mods tracked and will therefore require different categories, it would be very useful to be able to customize the categories ourselves, as Nadimos suggested as well. For example some players might want to categorize their mods into armor, quests, followers etc, whereas others may prefer to sort them by priority. If we had sub-categories too, we could actually do both simultaneously!

It would be great to hear if there are any plans to include this feature in the future, or, for starters, to hear what other people think about this suggestion.

Regards,

Yknuf

Dark0ne, please add this feature.

There are over 25K mods on Skyrim Nexus right now, and the ability to track mods to come back to later is enormously helpful.

HOWEVER.

There is no way to sort these tracked mods. While not everyone may be the overly-thorough research-hound that I am, I have 18 pages of tracked mods right now that are unsortable. I can't even sort them by name, nevermind by category.

It seems that the tracking category has been built with one function in mind -- to see when a mod has been updated. Essentially that the player might want to use the mod, but they are waiting for it to be updated before they download. For mods already downloaded, the "tracking"feature is a built-in function of NMM.

While tracking a mod by when it's been updated is certainly useful information, I would posit that many folks use the tracking feature for something else: to keep an eye on mods they MIGHT want to use, period. If they "bookmark" it using the tracking feature when they first see it, then they don't have to dig through the Nexus in an attempt to find it later. A user's hesitation to download a mod might be a matter of many things -- not just when it is updated. Therefore, it's imperative the user has the ability to go into their tracking center to find a mod that they've "bookmarked". This should be doable without having to scroll through every page of mods there.

At the very least, the user should be able to sort the tracked mod list alphabetically. Ideally, the mods would also be sortable by category, which is handy in the case the user doesn't quite remember the name of the mod.
