Okay so I had this idea and after about 2 hours of looking I did not find anything like I wanted. I have a feeling I am getting in over my head as the last time I used the construction set was in Morrowind and even then it was minor, but I am going to give it a good hard go. I am going to post below within a quotation my notes for all to read. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Also if you are working on a similar project please let me know as I would be interested in getting together with another, hopefully more knowledgeable, code monkey to knock this out faster and better.

New Skyrim Race: Dragon

Objective:

Allow the player to play through the game as a dragon in a manner that does not break the story, RP

experiance, gamplay, or lore of Skyrim. To do this I will fall back on the idea in DND that some dragons are able

to polymorph into other races. You will be a young dragon not fully out of wrymlinghood (is that a word) when

parent is killed/kicks you out to explain why you do not know draconian or why you are not very powerful. Instead

of picking a dragon race it will be a power much like being a werewolf only the player will be in more control of

how often and how long. Being in disguise would provide an easy explination as to why everyone would call you

"dovakin." How would they know that you are really "dov?" It would also explain why Alduin would hate the player,

you are a disgrace to dragons because you act and hide yourself amongst the "lowly mortals." Not knowing the

dragon language would also explain why Alduin comments about you not knowing the dragon language early game.

Player Intro:

You were born of Aqwe (Silver) the last remaining dragon in Tamriel. When you were still little more than

a hatchling your mother tought you the secreat that kept her alive all of these years. How to appear as a mortal.

You are young, however, and unlike your mother have been unable to master more that one form well enough to hide

in mortal socioty. Your only regret you have is that hiding as a mortal you never learned your native tounge. It

is for this reason that you decided to head for Skyrim. For there are rumors of abound and a deep history

involving the dragons in that harsh land.

How it will Work:

The game will start normally and a race and name will need to be selected per normal game. The difference

will be a menu that appears once leaving the "Helgen" cave. This diolog will ask you about how you felt during

the attack. The correct answer will be invigorated or respecful. Either of these answers will make you a

"dragon."

Universal:

Advantages:

-100% desiese resistance (your not mortal)

-+25 inital dragon souls (You are a dragon and should not need to kill to use the words)

Disadvantages:

-50 less Magika (Human magic has always been forign to you)

-50% slower Magika regen (same as above)

Nutral:

-You are still small enough to navigate dungeons. (you are young, just not tiny)

-If animations cause a problem then I can just diable using the power indoors

Human Form:

Advantages:

-You work like a normal charicter because as far as the game is concerned you are

-Shouts recharge 20% faster (Stacks with Talos amulet[80% max with all normal shout buffs])

Disadvantages:

-25% slower Fatigue regen (Takes effort to maintain this figure)

Dragon Form:

Advantages:

-Armor is heavily boosted

-Health and Fatuige will be +100 just like werewolf

-Use an equation to get attack strength based off of fatuige level and player level

-Shout time reduced by 95% (You are a dragon and they would become your MAIN weapon)

-If shouts cannot work with this form then give a unlimited breath weapon.

-Can Fly

Disadvantages:

-Cannot interact with equiptment

-Will be attacked on sight like a werewolf (Maybe remove this IF the play defets Alduin)

-No potions

-No Spells

-No Healing (The NPC dragons often run if injured if they can.)

-Slower on "foot"

Dmg Equation:

-((hp+ftg)/20)+(lv*1.5)

-Keep in mind in dragon form you get +100 to hp and ftg.

-ALWAYS round down

-This would keep any non mage on the same play-field in dragon form. Mages would already be more powerful

than the others in human form once high enough lv for this equation to start hurting them. This would be because

they would have spells, possibly a weapon, and up to an 80% off shout cool down.

Examples:

-Any with 100 health and fatigue at lv 1 = 21

-Warrior with 150 health and fatuige at level 10 = 40

-Ranger with 200 fatigue and 100 health at level 10 = 40

-Mage with 100 magika and 150 health at level 10 = 37

-Thief with 300 fatigue and 150 health at level 25 = 70

-Mage with 250 magika and 150 health at level 25 = 60

Just fire away and let me know what ya'll think. I might need the encouragement of others wanting this to get me off my lazy ass and...well on my ass.

Well even though this would get a thumbs up from the dragon race cult forming in the request forums, I'm going to have to say that your idea is a huge 180 on TES lore.

I'm not trying to put down your ideas or close up your mod before it starts, but in TES lore there are no female dragons and as such, dragons are timeless. I've done my lore homework on dragons for my own mod (see my sig) to tread between the lines and do what the lore lacks to say. Now if you want to do the dragon race mod that others look forward to, I say more power to you, but tread carefully with lore - lore can easily make or break a mod's popularity. If you'd like, you could adopt my take on how dragons are 'born' into Nirn.

Custom Lore:

Matriarchs are not dragons, but are what create the forms that dragons can take. They are monstrous dragon-like creatures designed by Akatosh to be timeless beauty and bare his children. Although they have wings, they are flightless after their second year of formation, allowing for de-centralizing and reproduction of Matriarchs to spread dragon nests across the globe. Unlike a chicken making an egg, a Matriarch takes a formless dragon 'spirit' from the other planes and processes them into formation for this world. In a sense, Matriarchs are the medium unto which dragons may reincarnate.

Thanks, It does help some. I did not know that it was not possible for one to be birthed. I just figured it was more like the Greek gods where they were born and killed, but never by a natural cause or "accident." I will have to toy around more with how to ease it into the lore before I write much code. How about the form idea? Even if how you are "born" is much altered would it still make since to have a dragon able to take say a Nord form? I figure if nothing else it should be since shouts (from a dragon) can change just about anything else in the world, why not themselves. I can understand why you would never see this normally in game as most of the other dragons see "mortals" as beneath them. You would just have to find a reason for it to not be beneath the player's dragon.

As an Afterthought: Do you think it would be beyond/within lore for Akitosh to "make" another dragon from a mortal's soul? The ancient Nords were not able to beat Alduin. Do you think that Akitosh would realize this and care enough do something like this in hopes of giving the Dovakin a bit more of an edge? Someone who would be neither mortal nor dragon sounds like the right kind of person to kill Alduin.

Again:

Did a bit of reading about your mod. Might just wait for it or see if there is anything i can do to help with it.
