(power armor) Omod Accessory floating through player, instead of sticking to player - even though it has skin data.

Recommended Posts

Hi all :)

I'm still having trouble with my power armor mod. iv gotten Omods to show visible nif models with the armor (like extra attachments etc) but the problem now is that they're floating through the player (the player moves with its animation but the accessory just stays at 0,0,0) I've tested a little bit so far - I've skinned the accessory in 3Ds Max a few times but the accessory is still just floating in game - i tried skinning it in outfit studio too but that crashed the game with nothing appearing in the log.

So the question.....

Does anyone know how to get an accessory (Omod) to use the skin data instead of fixing the accessory to the attach point???

Or does anyone know whats going wrong here???

I've just been looking through the forum and found...

https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6899686-custom-gun-floating-nif-and-reload-problems/

Which says that in the nif attach point there is a parent box that can be filled in with a bone name where the object will follow that bone...

very interesting! I'm going to go check that out now and see if it works! ill update if it does work :)

Thanks for the reply Bigandflabby!

I've been looking for a solution for age's and I've gotten no leads until now. Yeh it does sound like a skinning/bone weighting issue.

Funnily and conveniently enough, this morning the gods must have taken favor with me because I flooked a test accessory in as an Omod and It behaved as it should (visible and skinned)

This time I had cut out 3ds max almost entirely - I imported the model in OS, weighted it there, sub indexed, then added the Bsconnectpoint:Child in nifscope, checked the skinned box, copied over the BSX... And amazingly, it appears!

(it's in the ground at 0, 0, 0, but it is skinned and visible atleast! Now I just have to get it to keep its location instead of going to 0,0,0. But that's definitely a weighting issue, and I'm confident that can be sorted pretty easily)

On a side note, where would be a good place to post the nif for people to help out? Thanks again mate!
