Hard to find good male follower mods, sexy OR practical

Sadly, the filters are absolutely useless, because there's no 'only female/male followers' option. 'For male characters' just means exactly that, not that it is a male character. You couldn't even limit the search to just male followers in the old site, so you were forced to go through the 9001 waifus just to find the handful of decent followers/companions. Thankfully it isn't as bad in SSE yet, although that may just be due to me author-blocking the main couple of users who do nothing but port those mods.

 

I think the list I made is pretty much the only almost-complete one around. Here's it again with some SSE followers added, although incomplete for SSE as I haven't checked more than a few mod names so far. Sadly still waiting for that elusive non-vanilla romanceable Dunmer male, though.

 

Thanks for the list! I'll give it a look. I wish all of those Oldrim ones would get converted. Whenever I try to convert some of them myself, I get the black face bug. In the days of Oldrim, making "standalone" followers with non-vanilla assets seemed like such a great idea but now they're the biggest culprits in being hard to convert. They either get the black face bug or their body textures go wonky because they don't map out properly with SE. Apparently the way to fix that is via SSEEdit but somehow when I try to do that I just get crashes. Blah.

I've been toying with a very simple, basic Dunmer male follower mod, but I'm in mid playthrough and my char is already married so I can't test that function. If you'd like to give it a test, I'll gladly send it to you.

Some of them have potential, but like all followers in general, I find them lacking. I wish Erandur was an actual healer, for example. The only follower I really like is Serana... but there's no male equivalent to her (and even she needs a few tweaks).

Ok, so far he works but with Amazing Follower Tweaks installed, I'm not sure how much of his behavior is governed by a mod. Right now, I've got him classed like a nightblade but with a combat style kind of like Jenassa's. He has both spells and dual wield capability, but with different combat styles, he'll do more or less of the casting. Did you have any preference in whether he was magic or melee, predominantly?
