mbozier
hi there,im having some trouble when wanting to ride any horse in the game. - im able to mount them but when i do, the camera swings round to the horses butt, and the horse disappears. my character is still "riding it" - sat in riding position, horse sounds and footsteps can still be heard. - my camera movement is limited, it just seems to focus around the character, im unable to look ahead and see where im going. - PLUS im unable to dismount. all other controls work except the dismount button! which means i have to reload my game.thats it really, can anyone help please? PS the only mod i use that i think interferes with horses ,in anyway, is UFO, which allows all my follwers to ride horsesthanks
Georgiegril
Have you added any mods that change FOV?
Tidus44
As per G's suggestion, FOV changes can be problematic and I'd check that first. Another thing to look at is any animation mods you have loaded. It seems that a number of animation mods effect the game animations (kill moves, idle animations, etc.). I'm a bit curious on the part on camera movement. The mouse is used for controlling the horse direction left and right (normally - unless you have changed this), with the normal view being from behind the horse and rider, but using the scroll wheel allows one to move away and closer to the PC on the horse. I know that if I scroll too close the horse disappears. I can also move the view up and down by moving the mouse forward or back. Are you able to do these movements? Have you changed a mouse setting in game? As for dismounting - for some reason that happens to me every once in a while that my character will not dismount the horse. Sometimes just moving the horse a bit seems to fix it, as if something is isn the way preventing the PC from dismounting, other times I have to load a previous save and it usually fixes it, but I have not had a consistant dismount problem. mbozier
first of all, cheers for the replies :)but, excuse what might be a stupid question (im new to this) what do you mean by FOV?i dont use keyborad and mouse controls. im a lazy gamer i prefer to be lounged in a comfy chair using my tv as a monitor alongside a 360 gaming pad :) (apologies to all you hardcore PC gamers lol)the camera seems to want use my characters mid-region as a center point and any camera controls seem to rotate about this area! :SAs to the animation mods idea, the only ones i have installed are directed towards female characters, such as female idle, female sprint and catwalk. my character is male, so i cant see this being a problem :S. the only other mod with animations, that i use, is AP. but ive tried uninstalling this (along with josh's patcher etc) but i still get the same problem. maybe i should try uninstalling all my mods, run the game (see if problem persists etc) and reinstall mods. i know this is a pain in the backside and want to avoid it, but if there is another way around it, i'd gladly appreciate it :Dthanks guys
Georgiegril
FOV= Field of View. Have you tried going back to the mouse/keyboard to see if the problem appears then? If not, then it's a 360 issue. Sometimes mods that affect scripts have issues that show up in unexpected ways. Uninstalling one by one can sometimes be avaoided by going back and rereading the mod authors readme and discussion page. It may be a known issue with a posted solution. I am not familiar with pad use on a PC, but it seems strange that it would use a different point of view and focus than the game uses. In 1st person my view is appropriate to where my character's face would be. On switching to 3rd person, the view is still approximately face level, but slightly behind and to the right of my character. This also seems to be the focal point if I rotate or raise/lower the point of view. The mouse scroll wheel allows me to scroll out father from the PC for a wider view of the area around the PC and also back to the PC and into 1st person view. I can also "set" the distance I like in 3rd person using the mouse scroll control and then using the "F" key to swtich immediately from 1st to 3rd and back to 1st person views. I assume the gaming pad has buttons that can be assigned to these functions as well. If such actions cannot be done with the game pad, I would think something is not working or at least not calibrated properly - which may be a part of the problems you are experiencing with the horse. As pointed out by G, animations mods can effect more than just what they are intended to effect. I used to use the catwalk mod (the normal) as I disliked seeing women walk like they had been pulling a plow all their life. However, while the mod did make the female NPCs walk better, it also effected some male NPCs. A ruff/gruff orc walking like a model on a catwalk at a Paris fashion show really didn't do anything for me so I discontinued using the mod. mbozier
im pretty sure it has nothing to do with the 360 controller. ive been using it ever since i bought the game way back in november with no problems at all. the characters point of view (1st and 3rd person) are exactly as youve described. i just seem to have problems when mounting horses. i remember being able to ride horses without an issue, not so long back, when i first installed the UFO mod with all 5 followers mounted too. so i really do think i have problem with mods. ill sort through them at some point. at least its not a major issue and i can still play the game:)cheers for the help guys, if you can think of anything else, id appreciate it
