Why no Realistic Archery?

Among other things I am an archer in real life, and something that bugs the hell out of me is how the whole marksman track works in oblivion. It isn't realistic at all.

My thought is basically: make marksman have to do with accuracy. Bows should always do a lot of damage if it hits someone.

I think that ...

1. Strength should determine which bows you can use but have nothing to do with damage.

2. Damage should be based on the type of arrow and the pound pull of a bow. Kind of an average. Im not sure how Oblivion does it.

3. When someone is new to archery it means they can't hold the arrow back long, they are slow as hell at reloading and they can't hit a target to save their life..... But anyone is still pretty much crippled if you get hit by a 1st time shooting archer.

4. Speed should have something to do with reload times.

5. Endurance should play a roll in how fast Fatigue is used up.

6. Higher pound bows should fatigue much faster.

7. Being fatigued should result in slower reloads, less accuracy, and force the player to shoot instead of hold it down for long periods of time.

8. Seriously a head shot, chest shot, leg shot should have very different effects on people. Is that even possible?

9. WTF master archers in vanilla oblivion get to zoom in? Really? Just get rid of that.

10. As a trade off to the other realistic negative features, bows should have a multiplier to make their damage very high. ( A multiplier would work even on modded bows, so don't change item lists.)

Morrowind had a system that kind of functioned that way but you would always see the arrow hit, it just didn't do damage because it "missed" That was annoying because it wasnt range related. Is there a way to make an arrow actually just fly inaccurately? My attempts at this have been laughably bad. But something to keep in mind is that in real life, arrows spin and kind of make a spiral pattern. All of these arrows fly in a nice little trajectory. Not sure if the trajectory and spinning is possible at the same time though.

Again, I don't know if these things can even be fixed. It would probably take script extenders. I think it would be much more accurate.

Thank you for reading~

You have to remember though, this is a game. :P

Who is going to be able to fight back after being hacked with an axe or slashed with a sword a few times in real life, let alone being hit by spells. heh.

There are some archery mods though so have a look around. Oh and the "Symphony of violence" that I just started using gives a more realistic sound too.

I've often thought about taking up archery in real life but I think I'm more into crossbows. Perhaps that'll end up being one of the things "to do before I die". Speaking of which, I heard a good one of those the other day - One of the things to do before you die - Shout for help!

Oh and watch the swearing acronyms, the moderators will quite rightly smack you for that. heh.

Cheers.
