Fast Travel costs Caps

Hi, this is the first time I've ever made a post and of course, it's a request! Anyone able to make a mod where Fast Travel costs caps? Doesn't have to be dynamic on distance, just a base fee would be fine - like an even hundred or something people can tweak to their liking? Who ever makes this mod would be a hero!

 

I don't know how to reply to specific messages, so here's a list-ish, sorry.

 

I've tried those mods out, but problem is I don't play the game on survival and I am able to just fast travel anyways. I was looking for somethings that would disable FT so that I'd be forced to use those mods or at least make FT cost money. There are mods that do disable FT but you have to disable and re-enable them at certain parts of the game. I know, I'm not being easy. I'm not a smart cookie and can't make it myself. Don't even know where to begin. To whom, to whom should we bestow such a hefty mantle!?!

 

By the way, SKK50 - I love your mods, they just always make sense. Were you born or made by a computer?

There are a few mods that do something along those lines. I can't remember specific names, but the names are something like immersive fast travel and immersive teleportation I think? There's another one that uses picture frames as fast travel and another one that uses caravans for fast travel. The immersive fast travel requires that you actually make gasoline and other items for it. The caravan one I think you pay caravans to take you places. Hope those help. Try doing some Nexus searches along those lines.

I have this function, but its embedded in my 4-76 open world overhaul mod. If you don't have the caps (or wont pay) it returns you to your starting location.

 

What I can share to anyone that wants to do this is detecting actual fast travel as opposed to normal magic load door internal/worldspace transitions is a PITA as its all classified as "Player Teleport".

The only mod I really know of that does this as a standalone feature is Journey, but its not exactly what you asked for as it only allows you to hitch a ride with a provisoner (so you will only travel to their home or their destination). There are other fast travel mods out there, but besides what SKK50 noted and journey I don't know of other mods that do this. Good luck.

Here's two of the mods I mentioned earlier.

 

Minutemen Caravan is probably the closest to what you're asking for.

Immersive Fast Travel is one that I use. Let's you build vehicles and other settlement objects that require different resource costs to function.

I am not that tech (actually sales & marketing). What I have done is spent far too many hours in the wonderful world of Fallout 4 and publish mods that fix my own gameplay issues with a focus on total quality. No matter how bright and shiny the idea, if it can't be done elegantly without hacking base game stuff I don't do it.

 

If I find the time I shall try and carve out a standalone fast travel costs caps mod for you as I could use that too. Given that the Commonwealth map is 200,000 game units across NS & EW, and Sanctuary to DC is around (Edit 115,000 units) what rate would you pay for that journey in absolute caps or % of stash ?

That's amazing, I like the light touch your mods do and yet enhance gampeplay so much.

 

Honestly, I've never really put much thought into it. I just find that I always have a lot of caps and nothing to do with them. I like the idea of a flat rate (50 or 100) that way there it makes you think twice about fast travelling short distances and can enjoy the stalker mod you made at the same time. Sure I can just use self-control and not fast travel at all but who really wants to hoof from the Castle to Sanctuary all the time?

 

it's nice to have a financial punishment for using fast travel. The pricing, all up to you, I'll be happy either way.
