Lallekaj
I'm using Dovakiin Hideout 9.2 and for a while I've been a bit annoyed over somebody trashing the place when I'm not there. After completing the quests I started filling the chests in the Throneroom with gemstones. Yah I know.... They are quite often schattered all over the place when I return to the hideout. Wonder how that happends. I consider disabling all the inhabitants in the hideout. Did anybody try that for a similar reson and did it do any good? But today I found a key for The Thieves Hideout on the floor. I know that it is another mod, but I never had it installed. I'm a little puzzled here. Anybody seen this or know how that key ends up in my hideout?? Is Shawk a prankster scripting wierd stuff to take place randomly?
xlcr
@Lallekaj, hi, Dovahkiin Hideout is one of the first mods i installed since purchasing Breezehome early in the game and have left it running ever since, it has thankfully not caused issues with the game and is a great mod resolving Breezehome shortcomings. Recall only one instance while in there when a hostile rogue mage of somekind suddenly burst into the portal door foyer area and was quickly defeated by Shawn who i guess guards the place when he's not wandering around.Have not experienced any thief or other hostile types or keys left laying around yet lol. There has been a portal door to the Thieves Guild Ragged Flagon since version 0.7, not sure what the Thieve's Hideout is.In version 0.7.5 the modder Shawkab added a Box of Locks with all Locks (this is an attempt to stop unwanted people coming into the hideout, some quests give NPC's house keys and allow them to enter your house, this hopefully remedies that.)Not exactly sure what this is all about; but, i guess Shawk is aware of unwanted guest issues and tried to do something about it lol.I know a few other modders have requested permission from Shawkab to add portals from their home/hideout mods to the popular Dovahkiin Hideout; but, you say you have not installed a Thieve's Hideout mod, hmmm, navmesh issue? Items placed in open chests tend to scatter and not stay in place when you return later, i suspect this is probably more of a common game objects physics issue than a problem with the hideout.Did you close the chest? Lallekaj
@xlcr LOL I had the mage visiting as well. He had cornered poor Merch when I arrived, and Shaw did not interfere. I have the stormcloack soldiers from Whiterun hanging around in the bar. At one occation 7 of them had a party with Ozwyld or what his name is. They almost live there now. Some woman named something Sardi have used the shortcut to pass between Riften and Windhelm for some reason. So I don't have much privacy in the hideout. I don't close the chest. I thought it could be cool to flash the treasures in the open chests. I don't understand how a navmesh issue could occur when i never have had Thieves Hideout installed. But I hope somebody knows more about it.... Edited June 5, 2012 by Lallekaj
xlcr
@Lallekaj, wow, you've got a freaking roudy Whiterun frat party going on down there lol, maybe i should upgrade my older v9 to v9.2 for excitement, all i've got are the boring/rude hideout npc's.NPC's are known to seek out the shortest/glitched navmesh travel paths which might explain Sardi (Revyn Sadri?) using the portals; so,you've got your very own Grand Central Station downstairs lol. No idea why she would be travelling to between Windhelm/Riften.I understand about leaving treasure chests open to see, just keep throwing the loose loot back in until things settle down i guess. voidgenesis
I had a group of thalmor (two shiny guards and a mage in robes) turn up in my dovakhin hideout recently. They just hung around for a few days near Merch, until I got bored and killed them for their shiny armor. Weird.....
Lallekaj
Wow. Today Merch had nicked the Staff of Magnus and I had to buy it back from him. Too bad he doesn't know how close to anihilation he was. And it was really bad with the trashing. Only the books in the library and the stuff in closed chests was not on the floor. In the bedroom the bowl with deathbells was turned upside down and alle the stuff I had put on shelves and tables in the whole hideout was on the floor. Usually only a few things here and there is messed up but this was thoroughly performed with a good sense of the detail. Nothing should happen that is not programmed. I think... Do we have a ghost in the machine? :o] Who your gonna call?? Ghostbusters... Edited June 7, 2012 by Lallekaj
xlcr
@Lallekaj, fyi, i also vaguely remember mounting the staff of magnus in a floor rack storage stand and it was missing later.just spawned a new one and keep it with me now. maybe try putting the loot back in the chest, close it, leave hideout, come back, open the chest & leave it open, leave hideout, come back.honestly i rarely place items for display in player homes/etc, when i do (to get a good look at a unique item) i use the table tops, mannikins, or racks. there are a few placement tricks to get items to stay put; and, console coordinate-type commands you can use to get items positioned properly.i've seen people mention them here and there somewhere on this forum.by the way, items moving on their own after placement is not an issue exclusive to Dovahkiin Hideout, this is a known issue with Skyrim objects. GoodfellowGoodspring
Doesnt the 'radiant AI' use npcs to burgle your house? Im guessing the Thalmor would me used instead if you progressed through the main quest enough.
