I've lost my followers

I'm using UFO (Ultimate Follower Overhaul) and I got a few followers (maybe 4 or 5, I can't remember). The problem is that they started to leave me one by one when I was fighting as a stormcloak against the empire. At the and I only had one follower, Lydia. I didn't care about this for a while, but now I've started to pick up my ex-followers again at their home-places (where I found them first time). Most of them were companions from Whiterun so I've started the search there. I sadly realised that only Farkas and Vilkas was alive, and all the others who followed me before was nowhere. I mean I can't find them anywhere. I went back to the places I was fighting before (when they were following me) but I couldn't find them or their corpses. Can anyone help me? My last saved game with them following me is a very long time ago in the game, so I don't want to go back there.

(Sorry for bad English!)

@Skorzeny8814, hi, why followers vanish one by one during your civil war campaigns can happen if they die in battle and

enough time passed that the locations reset; so, it would be too late for you to look for their bodies to resurrect them.

Another reason is they may have gotten stuck somewhere i guess.

Popular follower mod 'UFO Ultimate Follower Overhaul by fLokii' - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=14037

can have issues if you've installed additional follower/dialog/horse mods that cause conflicts and do not peacefully co-exist with UFO scripts.

Modder fLokii has a good description page listing installation tips if you haven't read it.

UFO might also be picky about plugin load order and if you run SKSE.

Anyway, you can get back your followers using console commands; however, you might only get their body with none of the equipment you gave them.

you'll need to first lookup their REF ID (not Base ID), suggest using search on these sites:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Skyrim

Aela the Huntress's Ref ID is: 0001A697, launch console (' ~ '), enter commands:

PRID 0001A697 <enter>

MOVETO PLAYER <enter>

you should see Aela (dead/alive) teleported in front of you, if you do not see her type command:

ENABLE <enter>

if she is dead type command:

RESURRECT <enter>

exit console.

hopefully i got the command sequence listed correctly for you lol.

Thank you! I've been looking for some solution of the the problem and I thinkig about spawn them with console commands but I didn't know how to do it. So your post is very usefull in this fact. But there's one more thing I've forgotten to write down in the description. My followers didn't die, I'm sure about it, because I got a message from each of them when they left me. I mean the "Your follower leaves your service" message. That's why I think they cannot be dead and I'd like to find them instead of spawn them with console. Any ideas?

@Skorzeny8814, hi, you're welcome, happy to help if i can lol.

First of all let's please be clear, using console command 'moveto player' does not 'spawn' or create anything, this

command specifically relocates the existing game npc/object to your location.

The moveto command is popular because there is no danger of creating a bugged duplicate instance of something into your game.

If you like, you can read about console commands here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Console

Receiving message 'Your follower leaves your service' means the follower was probably told by you to wait/stay somewhere; and,

only after a certain amount of time passes (unmodded game should be 3 days i think), follower will get tired of waiting, then will

send you that message and proceed to travel back to where ever is currently home base.

For example, Companions (unmarried to the player) normally return to Jorrvaskr's mead hall in Whiterun which is their designated originating location.

As far as I know, the UFO follower mod does NOT automatically set your followers to essential status (immortal); so, followers can posssibly die when

they are travelling back home. In other words, even if you got that message from them doesn't necessarily mean they survived the trip home lol.

Depending on whatever follower behavior or dialog mods you have installed, commanding a follower or group of followers to 'Wait' at a given location will

initiate the above sequence of events scenario. Multiple dialog command options to tell followers to 'wait' will vary depending on the mods you're running.

Please note, followers will not fast travel with you if told to wait. I do not use UFO and not familiar with it, also do not know if you installed other follower mods.

Anyway, all this is becoming a bit too much to read.

Suggest you lookup the Ref ID's and carefully use the console commands I showed you, using Aela the Huntress as an example,

to reassemble your Skyrim follower team. Make a permanent savegame as a backup prior to using the console if anything goes wrong i guess.

Also, prior to the upcoming Skyrim patch v1.6.x, unless you've blocked Steam updates, I'd suggest you consider dismissing all your followers,

saving your game/exit, uninstall all follower mods, relaunch and make a gamesave, and only then allow Steam to update the game.

Unfortunately, i suspect UFO could have embedded changes into your gamesaves already (like i said, i have never used that mod so i'm not sure).

I have not seen any specific reports from beta testers about the new patch corrupting the game if you're running certain follower mods; but,

the way things are, we are at the mercy of Bethesda and Steam who do not take any responsibility for modded games. just say'n lol.

@xlcr, thank you again. It seems I misunderstood you with this spawn thing, but now it's clear. I did exactly what you told me to do and it works! Aela's come back... dead :( So I resurrected her and gave her some armor and weapons. Now she's following me again! :D Thank you so much!!!

One more thing: I've never told my followers to wait. They left me because of killing a lot of people I think. Like when you steel a lot of things and your follower (if he/she is not a thief) lefts you because of it.

@Skorzeny8814, cool, glad you got Aela the Huntress back but had to resurrected her for some reason,

as far as i know, she is supposed to be an important NPC set by the game as essential (until you marry her); therefore,

i suspect this is more evidence that there is something screwing up your game, most likely caused by mods you're running.

Uninstall those follower mods before its too late if not already!

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Essential_NPCs

So, are you going to do the same console commands for any other missing followers?

As you know, NPC's have a preset morality rank that dictates actions and behavior regarding crime/violence/etc which

prevents them from obeying illegal commands contrary to their morals and probably caused them to leave after witnessing your actions.

Usual reason they dismiss themselves/leave is suffering repeated friendly fire or injury caused directly/indirectly by you.

Your combat actions during the civil war shouldn't have triggered them to leave since these are valid scripted quests.

Like you said, you must've gone on a killing spree or committed multiple crimes witnessed by them until they got fed up, wow lol.

You must have heard them objecting/complaining and giving you a few fair warnings before leaving right?

Just to throw it out there, I know UFO has a very specific way you have to go about uninstalling it. Make sure you read the readme or the mod description page and follow the steps if you do plan to uninstall before the update as xlcr suggested.

I've never used UFO myself but I did read up on it (before deciding to wait on it) on the mod's page. I know it works fine for plenty of people but some of the bug I've seen being reported scared me off of it for now. Can't be too careful when picking out mods to install. I'm tracking it though so when it's nice and stable I'll give it a go.
