Ikilldovah
Hello All, To start, I want to make sure that this topic is posted in the right place. Please let me know if it is not. As the title says, I am brand new to PC modding and Nexus. Ive been a huge elder scrolls fan since Morrowind but I always played on xbox. Though modding always seemed intriguing, I was too attached to the controller in my had and never made the switch. Once Skyrim SE came out for console supporting mods, I dove right in... and it became life. However, coming from console, I was always lusting over the amazing graphics and variety of the mods available to PC users; which I would see on youtube watching reviews and doing research. Finally, I bit the bullet and decided to purchase a nice gaming PC dive into the REAL modding world. Down to the question... There is a mod in particular that I always wanted and now intend to use.... Rise of the Legend - YsgramorIve seen pretty much every armor mod available but for me, this one is it. Its was ported over to Xbox last year but it just wasn't the same (The textures and color combo of the PC version are far superior). Has this Mod been ported for SSE on Nexus? It appears not. Can I use it as it is? Do i have to/Can I port it myself? Any answers would be much appreciated. Again this is my first post, so if the question has been answered or I'm in the wrong place... let me know. Thanks!
Novem99
Can I use it as it is? This mod comes with meshes that were created for the original Skyrim version. Usually you have to optimize these meshes for the Special Edition but I've also read several times that some meshes work with the SE without being optimized. So you have to try it out regarding the meshes. But in any way you have to rework the .esp for the SE. Rework means you have to open it with the new Creation Kit and save it. Do i have to/Can I port it myself? You can port it by yourself FOR yourself as long as you don't plan to publish it without the permission auf the author. There are several tutorials out there how to port mods. You should manage that.

Im starting to wonder if I should just go with Oldrim.... Edited August 29, 2018 by Ikilldovah
Novem99
I can't help you with this decision. There are pros and cons. Of course the Special Edition is more stable. On the other hand there are much more mods available for Oldrim. And if you really know what you're doing and what mods you install you can have a heavily modded Oldrim with no crashes etc. But I have to admit it needs more work to achieve this than just using the Special Edition. I achieved a stable build of 300+ mods on Oldrim on a mediocre laptop before including heavy mods like Frostfall, SkyRe, Sands of Time, etc. It was a lot of work and trial and error on what mods to use, but it's achievable. That bit was what convinced me to put off getting SE now when I decided to come back after a few years. I found the mod build I want in Oldrim due to the sheer number of mods. I'd think I'd rather just not deal with having to go through the whole experimentation process again with SE. With TES6 on the horizon, seems like investing in SE for me now is less of a draw.
