Thanks, I had seen it was advised to try and block updates but I didn't get around to it.

I'm going to use the down-time to troubleshoot my hardware issues.

Do you guys think there'll ever be a "finalized" Fallout 4 build?

I'm sure it's a game I'm going to want to come back to and I'm definitely going to want the mods I'm using.

Or is it just a case of enjoying while I can?

I'm wondering if this stuff will ever be archived, so it's always available?

what I meant was that every time Bethesda spawns more CC content (or releases it , if you want something that sounds less sinister) , it break the script extender and all mods associated with them , as well as damage the good will of anyone supporting or using said tools and mods

so I do believe there will come a point where mod authors (and maybe even the team behind the script extenders) just stops caring anymore and simply stop updating these to work with the new versions . I hope Bethesda will stop releasing such content before that happens , but if they find it financially beneficial enough we may not be so lucky . however there are alternatives , as you can simply back up older executable and use these instead of the updates ones , therefore bypassing any need for updating the script extender or mods . this will at least spare you the wait for everything to get updated after the game update , but obviously when such mods are updated beyond that you will need the correct versions of everything

Thanks, I wasn't sure about the terminology.

I hadn't considered actually just backing up an executable. I need to look at how to do that at some point.

But yeah, I think Bathesda would love to have everyone paying for mods; I think everyone in the Free mod scene packing up and walking away, potentially to be tempted back into the paid mods program, would probably be quite desirable for them. :/

I mean if you're waiting for them to go out of their way to make life easier for the free modding community, I think that'd be a long wait.

Yeah you can roll back using the steam depot, you have to launc the Steam bootstrap, then just have to go online and get the 3 number sets and then you can download the previous EXE

The code to go back to the last update (July) should be:

steam_depot ‎377160 377162 8185771357782410156

I would recommend anybody wanting to rollback try that, if you need rolling back further look up the proper manifest ID for the date you want:

Thanks, that's brilliant; once I'm through troubleshooting my hardware issues I'll look into that and hopefully get back into my game. Thanks :)

I've got the executable for the last build (prior to the update) in a separate folder where I backed up the entire game. Can I just drag drop and replace the updated executable and be good to go?

I tried to download using the depot code but it didn't work out for me.
