Elorian53 Posted June 7, 2012 Share Posted June 7, 2012 Hi everybody, i have some severe problems with the game. It all started, when my game used to crash over and over again. So I reinstalled it, deactivated all mods (an most important better horses) an reinstalled the game AND the mods. But now the horse I have bought in Whiterun (and which was ridden by a follower of mine) is now indicated as "my horse, but stealable" and the only way to ride it, is to steal it. So it keeps running away, back to the stable - altough I bought it and until reinstallation everything was fine. I found a command here in the forum (to open up the console an typie in kill, and to resurrect the damn animal), but I found out, that the console doesn't work properly - it doesn''t kill the horse and I can't type in the commands from better horses to reset the settings - cause nothing happens. BTW: The commands from better horses didn't work from the beginning on. So I really would be glad, if someone has an idea, how to help me. I did it before, went through the configuration menu, and after reinstallation the console didn't work anymore - and the horse didn't work anymore either. xlcr Posted June 7, 2012 Share Posted June 7, 2012 @Elorian53, hi, so can you or can't you launch the console window using the tilde key (' ~ ')?if you can launch the console, can you enter: set HorseSettings to 1this allows you to change better horses settings again, you'll need to read that book again to start the option menu.i do not use this better horses mod so i'm guessing.. xlcr Posted June 7, 2012 Share Posted June 7, 2012 (edited) @Elorian53, hi, just to clarify, when you use console command set HorseSettings to 1, the only thing this does is reset the better horses settings allowing you to change them, it doesn't do anything else or launch anything else.This command might need to be entered with double-quotes around it like this: "set HorseSettings to 1" (but i doubt it).You must open the book manual "How To Train Your Horse" to start the options menu 'Better Horses Options Interface'.Is this what you did? anyway, this is what the modder said to do in his readme doc lol. Also, before you tried to use the KILL command, are you sure you TARGETED the horse first by clicking on it so its Ref ID appears on the screen? Were you in 1st person or 3rd person view? Are you sure that the horse was not previously set as essential (immortal)? Just to verify your console is working, what happens when you type the command player.showinventory for example in the console, do you get a list of all your gear? Have you tried launching troubleshooting Skyrim by right-clicking the icon and selecting 'Run as administrator'?
