Want to start making armor mods, where do I start?

I am decently new to blender and I am taking a class on it.

Is there any guides, tutorials, or tips on how to exactly develop armor for Skyrim? Do I have to learn scripting?

I do have a lot of questions on how to make a mod for Skyrim and I do want the right tutorials :)
