cfly42
Hello, this is my first post on this forum. Go easy on me or let me know if I'm breaking a rule or something. Just today I learned that I could exchange music tracks in Skyrim and I still feel giddy about it. I really, really hate epic, sweeping orchestral music and am excited to add my own tastes in. But there are too many songs I want to add! Is it possible to add more tracks beyond the number Bethesda originally put in? Can you keep going by adding mus_combat_07.xwm and 08 and 09 and 10 and so on or is Skyrim hard-coded to only have 6 combat tracks and six finales to those tracks? Does TES5edit have the means of making this happen somehow? Maybe a mod I haven't seen? If I have to settle for choosing music, I will, but if I can add ALL of the tracks I want I'd be beyond happy. Thank you!
PeterMartyr
Yes. But you will need to open the Creation Kit, TES5Edit in this case is absolutely useless. You will adding tracks... Another thing is you can replace the existing music, with no ESP. Take a look at mods that do this to see how it is done, both replacer & added tracks. Just type music in the Nexus Search Dialogue Box. There one too start you off https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/66612 Oh you can all the track you want, so will be beyond happy too. cfly42
You, sir, have made my day! I'm not yet familiar with Creation Kit (and apparently not as familiar with TES5edit as I thought), so I'll be getting on that. You mentioned that I can replace the existing music, can I replace the existing music and then add some or will I have to rely on Creation Kit to add more? Thank you so much for your input! agerweb
There is a difference between Music Type (eg MusCombat, MusExploreForestFall etc) and Music Tracks (eg MUSCombat01,02 etc) The Music Type is what can be assigned to an interior or exterior cell, a region or an effect. The Music Type can have a number of tracks assigned to it (eg MUSCombat has 8 tracks assigned to it). I presume there must be an actual limit but don't know what it is. If you want to add new music rather than replace existing music you will have to create an esp in the CK and make new Music tracks and add them to whichever Music Type you want to put them in. It sounds like I'm going to have to replace the originals and make an esp for the additional tracks, too. (unless CK allows me to replace the originals as well... I'll find out soon enough). Should be fun! I wish we knew if each music type had a track limit, but for now, I shall make do with what I know. Thank you for your input! So you can use TES5edit?? Well, *&$! me. I've been perusing CK and I figured out how to add new tracks on top of the replaced tracks. PSYCHED! If I spend the brainpower, I may even figure out how to have a single track for each store, but that may be unfeasible in the end.... Would you say TES5edit is easier to use than CK in replacing and/or adding music? Edited September 4, 2018 by cfly42

cfly42
I only use CK when I absolutely have to so I don't even know how to change music with the CK.It's all good. I just took a peak through TES5edit music categories and it seems a little more complicated than CK, but it might also have functionality CK doesn't. Don't know. I think for now I'll be using CK. To each their own! Thank you for your input!
