This is just a copy of my reddit post:

I'm hoping people here might have different ideas.

The reason I put crashing in quotes is because technically it isn't crashing, there just isn't a word for what it's doing.

Whenever the game saves (autosave, quicksave, manual save) the screen will freeze on the save menu, turn black, then white, then black again, but the game will still be running the entire time. I can hear it, and even get to the menu when pressing esc (it makes the menu noises).

I thought maybe my video card drivers were messed up, so I actually got amd's clean uninstaller, uninstalled my drivers completely, and then reinstalled the latest drivers. Didn't help at all. So I know 100% it's not a video driver problem.

I also thought maybe it was enb, so I removed all the enb files and it still happened. So not an enb issue either.

Lastly, the only reason the autosave manager mod is in my load order is because I wanted to see if incremental saves did this too. They do.

Edit 1: Forgot to mention I used http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.10.0 for the bulk of this load out.

Edit 2: I normally play with a gamepad so I forgot to try this, but hitting F5 doesn't make a save at all, the game stutters a second and then just keeps running normally without saving.

Edit 3: Just to be clear; saves are being made when I do a manual save and when the autosave parameters are met, and I can load those saves just fine. They work. The problem is, I can't really play if I have to restart my game every time I save.

Edit 4: Edit 2 was wrong, it does crash on quicksave. Also, in case anyone was wondering, when I go to the default profile in MO2 (a blank profile, no mods enabled) the game saves just fine. Updated modwatch as well.

I figured it out. This post can be ignored now. My graphics card is dying. I had 2 BSODs within an hour of each other and the .dmp file reader I have says the video driver is crashing, and there's some artifacts and flickering on my monitor now. Been a good 4 1/2 year run with the r9 280 but it's done.

if you have a desktop, try cleaning fans on graphics card. whenever cleaning inside of desktops make sure you DONT hit it with a static charge(static electricity) you can have computer off but plugged in, that way any potential charge would have a ground to ground out on. also, synthetic material clothing is prime factor in creating static charges, cotton is safe to wear.

I dont think this is going to help if the Graphicscard is doing so badly.
