stebbinsd
So I tried reinstalling the game to try and fix a launch bug. When I uninstalled the game, the folder I had originally installed it in was for some reason blocked from access. I can't open the folder, I can't even delete the folder. It keeps telling me that I need "permission" to perform these actions. Argh! Okay, deep breaths. I tell Steam to just create a different folder for the new installation and I call it something different. Ok, now I can at least launch the game. Only problem is it's vanilla. So apparently I need to reinstall all my mods. Well, I fire up Nexus Mod Manager and I tell it to re-scan for installed games. It does so, and it notices Fallout 4 is installed. When I tell NMM to launch the FO4 manager, it just says that Fallout4.esm isn't located at the original installation folder. The app clearly noticed FO4 was installed! So how do I re-route NMM to pull the esm files from the new folder? EDIT: I am able to open the Skyrim SE version of NMM without any trouble (then again, I didn't have to reinstall that). As I open up the settings menu and navigate to the "Skryim Special Edition" tab, I notice that I have the option of cutting and pasting a new folder for the game's directory: https://s22.postimg.cc/51fzi9qqp/Skyrim_SE_Directory.png So it seems that, if I could just open the index page for my Fallout 4 NMM, I could simply change the settings that way. Unfortunately, NMM won't even open the actual mod manager page proper unless it detects the esm file where it expects to find it. As soon as I acknowledge the error message, NMM takes me right back to the game selection menu. So while I could solve this problem right quick if I could get to the mod manager page, I'm in a catch-22 at the moment. Deleted3082751User
heres a potentional solution, you will need to edit the User Data Directly (For Nexus Mod Manager) You will need to be able to View Hidden Folders. and you will also need Notepad++ to edit the file. go here: C:\Users\your Computer Name\AppData\Local\Black_Tree_Gaming\NexusClient.exe_Url_2eir2d35cqbpwgw1etv4i5pyvaneja0r\0.65.9.0 <-- (the Version of Nexus you are using, mine is the latest from git hub, thus version 0.65.9.0, change that to the version you are using if not the latest, Example for latest version on nexus it will be, 0.65.2.0) now open the file called User (in that location above), and search for this <setting name="InstallationPaths" serializeAs="Xml"> now you should see this: <setting name="InstallationPaths" serializeAs="Xml"> <value> <PerGameModeSettingsOfString> <item modeId="Fallout4"> <string>C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4</string> where it says <string> </string> <-- input the new location of your fallout 4 installation in their, so you would replace my address above with yours. then save the file, and see if that works. i have not personally tested this, but i would image it should work, you may have to change a few addresses in this file, if the above does not work on its own. ================View Hidden Folders================ 1. Double Click on My Computer - Click on the Organize Tab - Folder and Search Options - View - Scroll down until you find Hidden Folders and Files, and click on Show Hidden Files and Folders Note: The Above is for Windows 7, if you are using windows 10, not sure if it will be the same for windows 10 Download Notepad++ Here: https://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v7.5.8.html Edited September 9, 2018 by Guest
stebbinsd
and you will also need Notepad++ to edit the file.Where do I download that? I assume that's different than regular Notepad.
stebbinsd
Ok, here's a weird thing: The problem seems to have corrected itself, and I can now open the Fallout 4 NMM. Weird. Anyway, new problem: Uninstalling my old mods and reinstalling them doesn't put these mods in the load order. At first, I wondered if NMM was simply installing the mods to the old data folder, but then that old folder is still empty. How do I get the mods I activate to show up in my new installation's data folder?
Deleted3082751User
by setting the correct data paths for NMM: Open NMM - Click on Settings (2 Cog Icon) - Click on Fallout 4 Tab: Mod Directory = Where you download mods to - click on the 3 dots button, to locate your mod downloads location for NMM (this would be the main NMM page, where you can install said mods) Install Info = i have mine the same place as my mod directory - literally as the name suggests. *Fallout 4 Directory* = this is where Nexus mod manager will install mods to - click on the 3 dots button, to locate your fallout 4 data folder, for NMM Note: Asterisk = the very thing you are referring to Edited September 9, 2018 by Guest
stebbinsd
Ok, only some of the mods didn't show up in the load order. Delete those mods and re-download them form scratch, and poof, now they're in the load order. Anyway, new problem: When I try to launch F4SE from the Nexus Mod Manager, I get told that the F4SE loader failed, and it recommends I launch it as an administrator. Doing so from the desktop certainly launches the game. However, I would greatly appreciate the ability to launch F4SE from Nexus Mod Manager. How do I get rid of this error message? Deleted3082751User
cant help you with that, as i do not have nmm setup to use f4se, i prefer f4se to be on my taskbar, so i can load it very quickly, as it sits right next to my start button. for me nexus mod manager is strictly used for installing and uninstalling mods only.
