Some ways to kill Paarthurnax.

I read on UESP that you can reach the throat of the world before the appointed quest time and spam destructive spells at him and he's immortal and won't attack, thus leveling up your destruction magic, but when I climbed up there to get the notched pickaxe he wasn't even there. I wonder at what point he actually appears.

I agree, his ragged and ancient voice is soft and full of wisdom. the Blades dilemma I ran through both with different toons. I always felt empty after killing Parthy. So, I did what any PC capable gamer would do, I advanced the quest stage for the blades, let Paarthurnax live to train some future generation of Dragonborn to confront the world eater when he re-emerges.

The obvious choice is to not kill him. The old hag Delphine gave no reason to kill him other than "personal hatred of dragons", what kind of reason is that? Just because Paarthurnax was allied with Alduin before doesn't mean he's always evil. Without him the player can never defeat Alduin.

I didn't even bother recruiting people for the blades, I just couldn't relate to them at all. The followers are better off sitting in the inns drinking mead than sitting in the dark gloomy hall with an old hag and an old geezer.

Why do you think that the only way to kill him was not killing him? I am one of the guys that love to be friend of Paarthurnax.

One time i tried to kill him but you don´t imagine how i suffer to give him a last swing. But i saved the game with Paarthurnax dead.

I tried to live with this but i get so disturbed that one day in the real life, i imagine someone saying: Why you do this to me? :wallbash:

Then i deleted my save and started a new game.

And now, Paarthurnax and i live together like true friends in the top of the mountain, and all night we drink some coffee. :whistling:

I would gladly kill just about anyone in the game, with just a few exceptions and Paarthurnax is one of them. I have never killed him in any of my characters and never will. Delphine and Esbern, however, I would gladly behead. After all, wasn't the Sky Haven Temple built for the Dragon Born? Yet if you don't kill the old dragon they tell you to leave. Huh, they didn't even have the front door key...you did

It won´t be future generation of Dragonborn, because my Dovahkiin is a Werewolf(vampire when the Dawnguard come to PC) and he cannot die of old age(and he is too powerfull to be killed). But i understand your point.
