mymouse completely whigs out.

Recommended Posts

basically, i cant do anything that involves fine movements because of my mouse. this is extremely annoying in games when im trying to click something specific. it doesnt matter if i move my mouse fast or slow, i cannot be precise with it.

those first two lines show me dragging my mouse in a straight line from left to right. first one was going slow, second one was slightly faster. third one for comparison was me dragging my finger along my trackpad (yes im on a laptop) that dip in the third one was me taking my finger off and replacing it to continue the line. but as you can see, my mouse cannot make a precise line at all.

im using the Logitech G500 mouse. id say its roughly like 6 months old now? i forget when i got it but i think it was sometime after christmas. also, i use the mouse on a sturdy platform. because im on a laptop, i sit in a chair. but i keep a thick hardcover book with a mousepad next to me to use the mouse on.

anyone know why this is happening? im really hoping i could just change the settings or something. but i hav a feeling its something to do with the laser and theres nothing i can do about it. i keep it at 1500 DPI which is low, but thats how i like it. X and Y axis are the same. 7 Speed and 0 Acceleration. the overall mouse speed is perfect, it doesnt go too fast or too slow. its just when i go to try and click something specific the mouse is never when im actually aiming for because its like unstable or something

hope someone has some ideas!

EDIT: actually looked into this a little more, and it seems to be an issue among G500s. i sent an email to their customer support, which ive heard both good and bad things about (fingers crossed) hopefully they can either provide some help, or at least recognize the 3 year warranty the mouse comes with.

Try soaking an ear cleaning stick with a bit of low % alcohol [not beer] and clean the lense of the laser. If that doesn't help and your warranty is off, open the mouse and see if the laser sensor bed isn't dislocated. It happens from time to time if you accidentally drop your mouse from some height xD If you wonder what you're looking for, it is the glass like laser sensor holder. It keeps the sensor centered towards the lense. You will notice immediatelly if it's dislocated - if that is the case push it from the back side so it goes into it's socket. The construction is almost the same for all laser mouses out there, so I'm pretty sure the problem is the same :) Edited by Hr1s7i

Sometimes the surface they are on messes up their movement. I have heard some problems where certain logitech mice will only work on a matte mousepad. I am not sure if this is the case but if you are using a mousepad with a plastic coating it would be worth trying one with a fabric surface.

it honestly is very likely the problem is that that thing is dislocated. being that i use my mouse with my laptop and its on the arm of the chair, often times when i go to get up i cant stop it from falling and as such its fallen a lot. however, ill wait and see what logitech has to say, if i can get a free replacement cause im still under my 3 year warrenty, then obv i will go with that and just be more careful with it. otherwise, if they say im SOL, it wont hurt to give what you say a try,

PM me if they don't want to replace it... I'll make some footage of how to deal with the problem. This particular problem I had at least 10 times with 4 different mice. Funny though, I can't recall having similar problems with optical mouse. I guess making mouse more solid as a construction is too mainstream these days xD

well Logitech got back to me and literally said the same exact stuff as you guys. all it actually took was me taking a Q-Tip and cleaning the laser. it seemed to obvious of a solution for me to try at first. and it didnt look dirty at all. but i tried it anyways and yea, the Q-Tip was dirty lol. and now it works like new. perfection. thank you guys for your help and thanks yo Logitech. responded quickly and efficiently. +1 to their customer support. nd Kudos to you guys. thanks!

You know you should invest in a laser mouse, i had one for nearly 2 years without fail, its Ultra precise. So precise you can literally use it anywhere.

Lol looks like you already have one, didn't see your last comment mention the laser part. :teehee:

Wait a minute, thats the exact mouse i have. is yours by any chance blue..

I would try cleaning it off with a fine cloth if ya have one, Note the laser itself is hidden but somewhat exposed, so make sure you keep water away from it.

A some what damp cloth as mention before.

Thor. reread the post before last by me. i already fixed it. it was as simple as sticking a Q-Tip up the little hole with a laser and cleaning it. lol it was quite dirty considering its only 6 months old. its all fixed now. but i appreciate your help as always buddy! :D

also no, mine is grey like the one in the picture. i got it after someone here asked for a listing of good mice. it was the cheapest one on the list (which is saying something since it was $60) so i chose it, and i gotta say, i love it. enough buttons for me. a verrry comfortable grip. great precision (when clean lol) good mouse, highly recommended....my friend got it oo after he tried mine.
