Where'd the voices go?

Aha, so it's the Sonya hair mod which causes the sound conflict, it's in German! Just... I'm not sure what he means by decompress, and/or make the mod English.

hmm, I'm not sure how to do it in your case either, I haven't used that mod. Are the Sonya voices in an .esm file in a subdirectory in Data/Sounds?

You should be able to open it and rename them and save them again, but I can't remember how I did that before.. but I know I did. A search should reveal that though.

If it's a BSA that's much easier, just use OBMM or BSA commander.

So which is it?

Some cosmetic mods messed up character voices, by assigning wrong voice to wrong race(mostly, giving Breton male Imperial voice). And if you use other language version of mod(soya's hair has German version plugin, right?) and the mod edits race information, all voice may be 'gone' after you activate it.

Er, Soya's mod is only a hair mod, gives 4 extra kinds of hair. However, it does change the race types to German, which is the problem. I'm not sure how to fix that.

EDIT: Well, now I know what the problem is, I found the English version of the mod(Which strangely doesn't have as many downloads as the German version, no wonder I missed it...). Thanks everyone, for the help!

Oh SOYA! I was picturing an NPC named "Sonya" or something. I have Soya, the coformulated(?) version of the hairs, in English. But at least it's working!

Yeah, just downloaded the English version. Sadly, I have some troubleshooting to do, as the voices work now... But the hair doesn't. Damn. :(

If you saw the link I just gave on the Elaborate Eyes thread, you can add hair exactly the same way using the construction set. Just open load oblivion.esm, set the beauty mod that works as the active file, and then follow the instructions to add the hair (and eyes) that you want. Save and enjoy.

Always make or have a backup before you start.

  • 1 month later...

I'm having a "similar" problem, except i called it "similar" because it varies somewhat. All the voices on my game are gone except for greetings...

I did a reinstall. Didn't work. Then I saw a file, says: Oblivion - Voices1, BethesdaSoftworks Archive. So i extracted it into my Data directory (made sure it was correctly extracted and in the right place) but, that didn't work. I, of course, have mods installed:

DLC: Knights and Shivering Isles,

OOO,

BP,

HGEC 1.1,

I know i mucked something up because it worked before i started in on the modding. I also went mod crazy and installed several mods in one save. One of them happened to be that mod that is supposed to make Soya and PB work together ( I didn't read till later that you actually need both the mods, i thought it was a standalone :P ). But, as you can tell, i did not use Soya on my fresh install so i think something in my My Documents\My Games\Oblivion directory is messed up. But, what is it?

I read earlier about something in an ini that points to the directory with sound in it. Where is this ini and what do i change?

Ok, Never mind, i had speaker config settings screwed up as well
