Mods to make Skyrim play better on a craptop?

So basically, I've been searching far and wide to find just any good mod that makes Skyrim play far better than it does on my mediochre laptop. I don't do much "gaming" per se, but I enjoy playing a casual game every now and then. Lately, I've been into playing Skyrim again, and I just might give Oblivion another look.

This is my laptop:

2.3 GHz dual core s***

4GB DDR3 RAM

1GB AMD Radeon HD 6650M

Windows 7

Now, as far as this laptop goes, I can't say I bother with high-end graphics since, well, this old dustbox cannot come through on higehest graphics in any game older than 2010. What mods can you recommend? Any FPS enhancers and maybe any mod that lowers textures/graphics below lowest possible. I have the latest patch, I think. I dunno, but I have set Steam to auto update it for me whenever a new patch is ready.

You should be fine :)

The specs you mentioned are pretty much identical to my desktop XD (which runs Skyrim just fine! =P)

Well, the thing is, I don't run Skyrim just fine. I notice it's very low FPS and it stutters quite a lot, especially if something happens on the screen. I run no intensive background processes and I have the latest 1.6 patch.

I'm actually quite surprised that you aren't able to run it well and that you get low FPS, I've got a laptop slightly less powerful than yours:

I3 M370 2.4Ghz

4 GB DDR3 Ram

1GB AMD Radeon HD 5650M

Windows 7 64-bit

And i'm able to play at constant 30-35fps outside even in combat (37-40fps overclocked GPU), and near enough 45-60fps inside houses/dungeons depending on how much is going on, also running 60+ mods. I just use mods like as the poster above said Skyrim Performance Plus helps quite abit, you won't be able to use Skyboost unless you have 1.4.21.0 or lower, until he brings out a new version of it to support Skyrims latest patches.

The TESV Reduced Texture Pack helps in the way over reducing the amount of VRAM that is used and doesn't impact texture quality at all, just rather optimizes it better, whilst keeping the same quality.

And the Simple Borderless Windows can help out aswell, maybe try tweaking your ini's abit? Just remember to make a copy of it before hand for a backup. Check your Anti-alisaing that maybe too high? I normally just disable it all together and just use the FXAA and seems to do the same job but more FPS gain from it. Or try just enabling the AA from the Catalyst center instead. All I can really recommend is all else fails, set all the settings to low then gradually build it up from there until you have something you are playable with. There are plenty of mods out there that make the game look stunning with lil to no FPS drop, and I use quite a few myself that cause no drop and i'm quite happy with my game.

Hope this helps

I guess I should have typed out exactly what processor I have, and then you'd know why Skyrim plays like crap for me. I have a 2.3 GHz AMD Athlon II P360 cpu. I've googled it before and it seems it's overall crap. Good GPU but a lousy CPU. I guess that's the thing with a laptop nowadays. Either they have a good CPU with a shitty GPU or a good GPU with a shitty CPU. Or they have good of both, but a ridiculously high price tag.
