easy mod request

Hey, I'd like to request a (hopefully) simple little mod.

All I want is for the game to automatically switch to third person whenever I have a melee weapon drawn (or, if that can't be done, whenever I have ANY weapon drawn), and to switch back to first person when I sheathe it.

(while I'm on the subject of camera mods, a mod shifting the position of the third person camera slightly to one side while the bow is drawn would also be very nice... but it would have to be compatible with or incorporate the features of the 3rd person "camera swing fix" mods.)

Thanks!

I don't realy get the point of this mod.

Why would you want to fight in 3rd person?

You can bearly see where you'r hitting, in that view.

It would be really bothersome for spellcasters and archers.

Though, this is my opinion.

Im going to ask why dont you just turn to 3rd prson when you take out a weapon or you could just keep it on 3rd person

I like to melee fight in third person, and do everything else in first person. Manually switching back and forth constantly is a little irritating, and it would just make the game overall a lot smoother and more fun for me personally if it could handle it for me.

Hm, yes a behind the shoulder cam like in GoW sure would be nice, Better than your standart over the head cam.

I'd have to agree, for melee. Maybe for archery too so long as the camera placement were carefully placed.

Those of us that prefer a third person perspective for melee generally do so because we find it makes it easier to see what our character is doing and know what is around us. It's hard to convey through a 60 degree first person view cone the positions of every enemy around you; in real life you have a roughly 200 degree field of view and can easily see three attackers at point blank range.

Let me put it this way; if you were playing a shooter, would you use a scope against a group of enemies ten feet from you? No, because doing so would severely limit your ability to monitor the entirety of the group, as opposed to your current single target.

This is almost identical to the reasons why some of us prefer a third person view for melee. Can't very well dodge an incoming attack from the left if I can't see it... and in real life, I could see it.

As far as I can tell, there aren't any functions for returning the current view, so it could only change views when you change WeaponOut states. Shouldn't be a problem unless you wander around a lot in both third and first-person view aside from the WeaponOut bit. And it would require OBSE. If that's okay, I can whip it up pretty quickly.

Sounds GREAT.

The key is that it should change views not only when i manually draw/sheathe weapon, but also when it automatically draws due to hitting the attack key while sheathed. I could accomplish the former just with a simple UI script or perhaps editing of the oblivion controls file, but I can't do both that way.

If you can, then hell yeah, please do!

Also, enabling it only when melee is equipped would be nice, but not essential.

Thanks!

Here you go. It will, indeed, treat changing from a melee weapon to a non-melee weapon or vice versa as a view-toggle and not toggle if sheathing or unsheathing a non-melee weapon. :)

Naturally, OBSE required.

Works perfectly! Time to kick some monster ass!

Thank you so much, you are a thousand times awesome!
