Revial
Well! It's come to that point. Y'know the one. The point of beating the same villager to death with his own shoe that after 9000+1 beatings you decide to look into the expansion. I've done a bit of reading and I've done a bit of sight seeing on what the new features entail and I've come to...well, the forums. Is the expansion worth getting? Or is it simply Oblivion redecorated? Discuss but keep it civil. ;
Halororor
Definitely expand. SI just adds so much more to the game, gameplay, story and content wise. And not wanting to see Sheogorath should be a crime. I waited a year before buying SI and when I got it I was blown away by how nice it was. Revial
I see. I has a question. (;3) Does SI add races? Or makes faces less fugly? D:!
rickythecat
Unfortunately, no, my apprentice. These things... you must do for yourself. Anyway, Expand. SI is one of the most fun and original expansions I've yet played.
ianfreddie07
Go for SI. Then play Giskard's mods. :)
WrathOfDeadguy
It is a completely different experience. SI is... well, it's the Spaceballs to Oblivion's Star Wars, the TES equivalent of Alice's Wonderland. You can't help but love it unless you've got no sense of humor. It's even better because you can play it without feeling silly; because it is part of the extended TES world, it doesn't require any mental backflips to shoehorn into the story. The place sure is weird, and it would make no sense whatsoever if it were part of Nirn/Tamriel... Yeah, but it's ruled by a lesser god who's absolutely batty. What would you expect the Madgod's realm to be like? Dagon's realm wouldn't make any more sense if it were part of the mortal plane of existence, but we accept that it works just fine and dandy for the Daedric Lord of destruction and bad nastiness to have a great big volcanic wasteland with broken bridges and washbasins that spout blood instead of water and other such crap. That Sheogorath's realm is inhabited by mortals in addition to daedra makes it that much more interesting to poke around in. It's a good buy even if your character (like most of mine) isn't one of the mad. It really nails that "I've been sucked into a strange alternate universe and suddenly have to save the world" bit, only without the schlocky magical schoolgirls. ;)
Revial
But...I like those schlocky magical schoolgirls... ;-; *Ahem* All kidding aside, I figure I'll give it a shot. But FIRST! Anyone got a..."unfugly" face mod? I tried beautiful people and the eyes turn black and that weirds me out something fierce. Plus...is there a Male hair mod? The default hairs aren't cutting it for me.
Varus Torvyn
I've never regretted buying SI. I only wish I'd done it sooner than I had, but I wanted then to get some experience playing Oblivion before I dived into the expansion. SI to me was a seamless addition of new programming - the execution was flawless. No glitches going from Cyrodiil into SI (not the gate, but loading and executing graphics files without crashing). The other-worldly scenery was well-done. I also felt good about getting it since I knew about the USIP Unofficial Patch.
