80sReco
I can't set my Anisotropic Filtering higher then 8x, I can't set my AA to higher then x4 for maximum graphics. Can't force Mipmaps and can't force trilinear optimization or the game will crash and the computer will need to be restarted as the game freezes my PC. I have a ASUS 512 EN8800GTS, a Intel Core Duo E84000 at 3.00Ghz and Windows XP Home edition 32-Bit. This PC is only 2 months. Can anybody help me? Also the new driver 175.19 for Nvidia's cards that was just released only makes the situation worse then it already is.

It would help our experts if you said exactly WHICH nVidia card but if it is the "one just released" that I have, the 9800 GX2 it should have no problems with those settings. Have you patched Oblivion to the latest? How much RAM do you have?

WoogieMonster
Not all members of the 8800 family are created equally, and even the ones that are close (in terms of specs) may still perform dramatically different depending on the game. If you have installed nView and/or nTune, go through your settings and ensure you enable:- Hide graphics settings that can not be supported- Allow application to decide This way, your games option menu will only show you the settings that your card can handle and not every possible setting that the entire card family could conceivably handle. Also, if you purchased your rig from a store, it may have been in storage for a while and the drivers may not be the latest releases, you should check that too. MyNewUsernameIGuess
Have you tried unchecking all but Oblivion.esp in Launcher?Doctoring your oblivion.ini file may help, google it.Also, altering your oblivion.ini file incorrectly can have wierd effects, you've got to be very careful what you change. WoogieMonster
I downloaded Ntune and I don't see anyplace in the control panel Nvidia has for me where these setting selections are. ***This is where I tell you that messing with stuff in this menu could have the potential to really screw something up.*** I just got the newest version, it looks like some options have changed and some have been taken away. Anyway, here's what you're looking for: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u201/WoogieMonster/7194d32c.jpg And for AA, mipmaps and all that other stuff you mentioned that I will not pretend to know anything about, you can set them on this screen: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u201/WoogieMonster/8d33897b.jpg Scroll down the list to find Oblivion (you may see some games that you do not actually own, I have no idea why), select it, then in the next box scroll down until you find the setting you want. Each line is a drop-down menu.
