vortexhlp
Steam is a pain, well, not so much steam but the Skyrim devs. They seem to release updates at the most inconvenient times, like the other day I was playing, the game crashed and it auto-updated and SKSE would not load. The update wasn't available yet, and this isn't the first time that it happened. A lot of people say, "Backup your game, restore it when an update happens", but Skyrim isn't exactly small and neither is my data folder. I have many gigs in mods alone installed, and I'm sure you do as well. What kind of workaround is there to prevent auto-updates? Changing the settings does not do anything and I'm sure very few actually care about the updates that are released, at least the moment they release. Is this DRM and what DRM does to people when they try to play single player games? It's ridiculously annoying :/
SineWaveDrox
I typically back up just a few key items, such as TESV.exe and SkyrimLauncher.exe, and, in the future I will backup Skyrim.esm and Update.esm as well. I think that reverting those should be sufficient to restore an older version. I could be wrong about that, but I have not discovered anything giving evidence contrary to my methods so far. As far as preventing auto-updates, I remember seeing something posted on Nexus that would prevent it from happening, but I don't remember what it is called. Perhaps it is in the Utilities category. Rabbit1251
Playing in Offline mode will prevent Steam from updating. The downside is that the next time you access Steam it will then update your game. So backup like Insanityman says. Rabbit
