Well, I still haven't got Oblivion to work. Usually, all I can do is walk around for a few seconds then I get a CTD, or I'll let some weird lighting CTD me. Once again, I have reinstalled Oblivion. I saw some of my load ordering errors and fixed them and I added a few more mods. But now, it's a CoS (Crash on Startup). Please help me sort out my order and find out what causes the CTDs. Thanks.

Hmm, I'm not familiar with many of your mods but I would recommend that you look carefully into the compatibility fixes between OOO and MMM.

 

Oh and as an aside, you might like to try a very good vamp mod which does more than just the face fixing you have. :)

iirc, the limit on mods is 255. You're over that, as the esm files also count. Also you've probably got conflicts galore with all the environmental mods thrown in.

 

Sounds to me like you've got to look at your mod count, and also go through a ton of mod descriptions & readme files to look up conflicts.

Undoubtedly so. Any program will have problems if you issue more calls than it can handle. Conversely, I've read that having a lot of unchecked .esp files can also cause problems.

 

I would suggest making a comprehensive list of what you really want to have in the game, and go with that. You really can't have it all, you'll just swamp the program.

 

A streamlined game - with load-ordered mods - that functions smoothly is much more preferable to one that crashes because you're asking for it to do too much.

 

For example, my goal for my game is to load in quest-mods for character advancement and to increase gametime. Counting support mods and replacer mods, I'm running 62 or so mods right now.

 

Sure, I can add more, but I play it safe. If I see a mod I'm interested in, first I take the time to read the mod author's Mod Description. Most of the best mod authors test their mods to discover conflicts, and they will post them in their Description.

 

I download the file to a temporary download folder, then unzip it into the same folder. I then open up the Readme File to see if the Mod Author has more good info.

 

I also look to see if the mod has been included in the .txt file for Random's FCOM Helper load-ordering utility. Again, the best mod authors send their info to Random so that he can place the mod properly within the list. If it's not listed and I really want the mod, I'll try contacting the author and ask if they wouldn't mind contacting Random with the particulars of their mod.
