Jintezaku
HELP WANTED, READ BELOW! As of right now, this is the active Development page for the Voiced Dialogue Creator.Be sure to follow this topic if you want to stay updated with the development. This project aims to bring Skyrim modders a tool to create flawless new dialogue using the vanilla voices. This software is being designed to give small teams and one-person armies the tools to create DLC sized voiced expansions, without having to record single a word. _____________________________________________________________________________Overview of features_____________________________________________________________________________ Custom text-to-speech engine This program will have a TTS engine specifically designed for each Skyrim voice actor. This will feature both manual and automatic generation of words and sentences. A manual visual editor will be added to provide maximum control to the end-user. From this tool you can save and load “Sentence Project” files, import and export .wav files, manage sentence libraries and export/import sentence libraries. Word Creation Tool While Skyrim's base catalog of voice acting is impressive, it's nowhere near the total current 171,476 active words in the English dictionary. This framework will allow you to create words from scratch using optimized vanilla voice files. From this tool you can save and load “Word Project” files, import and export .wav files, manage word libraries, export/import word libraries and manual editing of both existing and created words. Post-production Post-production is key in making or breaking the quality of sound, even more so in something as delicate as human speech. For this reason, a lot of focus will be put on giving end-users the most options in customizing and optimizing their creations. These will include EQ, reverb/echo, layering, mixing, panning, transposing, distortion and compression. To give people even more control, options are being considered to add .vst support in a future build. Help wanted! Because this project is so new I am currently the only one actively developing the software, and therefore I have to keep the scope within reasonable limits. I have a lot more features in my mind that I would love to implement but this is a fool's errand to do alone. If you have any experience developing in C# (preferably in Visual Studio), software design, sound engineering or phonetics, and want to help on a big project that will span several months, maybe even years, send me a message! _____________________________________________________________________________First release Alpha 1 will be released in October 2018 and will feature the following_____________________________________________________________________________ Creation of sentences and words using basic TTS (female Nord voice only) Live playback and media controls File browser Saving/loading “Sentence/Word Project” files Exporting/Importing sentences and words to .wav file. Some form of post-production (I am still assessing which to prioritize, I have a framework in place for all features) (VDC as of 07-10-2018) Edited October 7, 2018 by Jintezaku
Deleted3897072User
Two pieces of advice: (1) Write the end-user documentation first. Get potential users to read it and give you feedback. Adjust it to what they tell you. At this stage, it's easy to change because you haven't invested any time in coding it. Then, when it looks right, code something that does exactly what it says, no more, no less. (2) Get a buddy to read your code and tell you if they don't understand it. Source code is not for the compiler to compile, it's for other people to read. If it makes sense to them, there's a fair chance it will make sense to the computer.
