Japet was sitting at the bar, upstairs in Arriles Trdehouse, sipping his Cyrodyillic Brandy, savoring the taste. After his last raid, he had made quite a bit, and so he decided to celebrate. There were several unique features about him. One was his face. It was masculine, and yet very gentle looking at the same time. He was strong, and quite agile as well. Another unique feature about him, were his eyes. They were bright blue around the edges, were white on the "inside," and the area around his pupils were blood-red. His pupils were as dark as ebony. His mother was a Nord-Dunmer, and his father was an Imperial-Breton. He was quite adept with a sword, and good with some forms of magic as well. Even though he was a mix of the different races of Tamriel, he considered himself Imperial, as that was were he was raised and educated. The reason he had come the Vvardenfell, was because he had heard about all the treasures and riches to make there. It had worked out well so far.

As he sat there, he felt a slight rustling in his pocket. He looked down, and there was a man reaching into his pocket. As soon as soon as Japet saw him, he dashed for the door out.

"Stop! Thief!" he yelled.

Just as he was about to go after him, there was a flurry of a cloak, and the next thing he knew, the pickpocket was pinned up against the wall. Even though this person was in a cloak, Japet could still see that they had the gentle curves of a woman.

"It's bastards like you that really boil my blood," she said.

Japet's Gold Coins fell out of the thief's hand, and clattered to the floor.

"Now then," the mysterious stranger said, as she pulled out a very long, very nasty looking knife. "What do you want to lose? Your hand, or your balls?"

That was quite enough for Japet.

"Stop!" he yelled at her.

"Why?" She responded. "He stole your money, the little twit."

"You should let the authorities deal with him," he replied. "Maybe he'll get sent to Fort Frostmoth"

Japet could see the thief visibly shiver. Fort Frostmoth - and Solstheim in general - was terrible.

She stared at the man for several seconds, and finally decided against doing something rash. She let go of him, and he dropped to the ground. He scrambled up quickly, ran down the stairs and out the door. The stranger picked up Japet gold coins and tossed them to him.

"I do believe these are yours," she said, and them walked downstairs and left.

Japet stood there for a few seconds in confusion, and then snapped out of it. he tossed the bartender these few coins.

"Sorry for the trouble," he said, and then ran downstairs after the mysterious person. As he was running towards her, he saw the man that had tried to pickpocket him in the custody of the guards. The guard captain said to him, "Well now, look what we have here. It looks like all of the other prisons are full right now," Japet knew that was a downright lie. "So, I guess we'll have to send you off to Fort Frostmoth." the guard finished, with a voice of mock disappointment.

Japet saw the man pale, and he looked Japet in the eyes, with a look that was saying, Please, by the gods help me!

Japet walked away, feeling rather guilty.

He finally caught up with the stranger as she was walking across the bridge to the other side of the inlet.

"Hey!" he panted. "I wanted to thank you for what you did back there."

"Oh, it was nothing," she replied casually.

Japet hardly believed that threatening someone with a knife in a bar was "nothing."

"No, I'm serious. I'm glad you were there." he said.

There was a long awkward silence, and then she finally said, "Walk with me."

So, they walked. At first in silence, and then they finally started talking.

"So," Japet said. "What exactly do you do for a living?"

She stared at him from under her hood for what seemed like a long time, debating whether or not answer his question.

"Well, I'm a mercenary," she finally replied. "I do a little bit of this, a little bit of that. What exactly do you do?" she asked.

"Oh, well," Japet said, taken by surprise. "I'm an adventurer. I do a little bit of this, a little bit of that."

He detected the slight flicker of a smile flash across her face.

"Where do you hail from?" he asked her.

"From Valenwood," she replied, and she finally lowered her hood. "I'm a Bosmer, just in case you couldn't figure that out."

She was a striking woman. Not necessarily beautiful, but her face definitely had a sharp, angular beauty. She had Auburn colored hair, that was tied into what some called, a "windswept hairstyle." She had deep brown eyes that seemed endless.

"Where do you hail from?" she asked him.

Japet thought about his long list of multiracial ancestors.

"Well, I'm from Cyrodill by birth," he said. "That makes me an Imperial, if you didn't know." he said with a smirk.

"Oh," she replied in mock suprise. "Of course... you never told my your name," she said.

"It's Japet," he replied.

"What's your last name?" she asked.

All of his life, Japet had wondered that same question. His father had died at war before he was born, and his mother had died of a terrible disease shortly after he was born.

"It's just Japet," he answered. "You never told me what your name was." he said to her.

"It's Mia," she replied.

"Well," Japet said. "What's your last name?"

One of her eyebrows quirked up. "It's just Mia," she replied, with a smirk.

"Listen," Japet said to her. "I feel terrible about what happened back there. I feel that I need to pay you back somehow. Please"

Mia tapped her lower lip thoughtfully for a minute, and then finally said, "Okay. I have something for you."

Japet listened intently. "Yes?" he asked. "What is it?"

"I need someone to travel with, and you look like you fit the bill perfectly," she replied. "So, go get your stuff and meet me here in five minutes."

Japet indicated his rucksack on his back and his sword sheathed at his side. "This is all I've got." he said. "I'm ready when you are." he added with a smile.

"Okay then," Mia said. "Let's get going, shall we?"

So, they walked out of Seyda Neen, and started off on their adventure together. Little did they know, however, that this would lead to an even bigger adventure, bigger even than the usual cave raid - and far more dangerous...

Well, that was part one of my story. What did you think? I'm open to constructive criticism and thoughts. Please do keep in mind that this is my first-ever Fan-Fiction story. Don't hit me too hard. :P

P.S. Sorry for it being so long!

I enjoyed it, could have been longer!

True. It could have been longer. It was only about 1 1/2 pages in Word... (not being sarcastic).

I just realized a few spelling errors I've made in there... Bah. I'm too lazy to fix them. :P

I enjoyed that very much, can't really offer an criticism. It sucked me right in and left me wanting more. Can't wait to see what happens next to Japet and Mia.

It's good to see that you're interested. I will type more later, when I have more free time on my hands...
