NMM and Vortex - Any Issues Using Both

Most posts where people are furious with Vortex, jumped in blindly, with a 240+ mod setup and expected it to go swimmingly, instead of being cautious, starting with a newly installed game with ZERO mods and started from there in order to preserve their current set up.

Some people didn't even bother reading the FAQ or at least watch the tutorials.

Vortex seemed to kill my NMM, I downloaded it and had a ton of trouble figuring it out, searching for tutorials and only finding vortex alpha tutorials, so i figured i would unilstall it and go back to NMM until the tutorials catch up to the beta version. Oh no, vortex is a one way street.

So instead of playing Fo4 for an hour or 2 i have to...

1 get it to find my fallout4.exe

2 Figure out how to reinstall F4SE, and scripts file.

3 download from Nexus via vortex

4 Manually download anything from lovers lab

I see a lot of headaches in my future. Little by little we'll all get this thing working but we could just be playing the games we love instead of this.

NMM was fine, if something works ...don't fix it.

As a matter of fact, on multiple places, it suggest you NOT to switch over to another Mod Manager if you have a complex mod installation that works just fine.

Changing a Mod Manager throughout an on-going play-through is never recommended. Only if you want to start from scratch with modding a game, you should think about which manager you want to use.

Sorry that you lost your setup, now the only way is to go through the process of reinstalling all your mods in Vortex. At least, Vortex has a feature to "Restore Save Game plugins", i.e. looking into a Saved Game to find and activate all the plugins that were used in that saved game. But for this to work, you still have to have all your mods installed AND you have to find the proper conflict resolution (which mod is loaded before which other). This was done in NMM in a very crude way (by "Overwriting" files when activating a mod), but in Vortex this can be done much more elegantly (by clicking the red flash icon in each mod entry), but this needs some getting used to and can be a lot of work when you have many mods installed for the first time with Vortex.
