azki20
Hey there, Im a newb at the CK but ive followed several Tutorials from FirstInSlot, and the bethesda official videos, aswel as going through their Wiki. Now the problem im having is, I want my NPCs to say something, i dont want a quest persay., Example, i walk up to my Swamp lurker [Just a bum npc] now i want him to Confront me straight away so i dont have to press E on him, like ForceGreet? If thats what its called. now anyway., i want him to simply say " Your not from around here are you?, You should go see the bar tender up the hill, she might have some work for you" But i dont want it to be a quest like " Go talk to so and so" Just general conversation, now im not entirely sure how to do this, ive set up Dialogue Views on my NPC and he still wont talk.. For the sake of the tutorials, i made a quest called MurkBarTender , Where i had set up a basic dungeon down the path from this town with a Bandit guy in there with a ring [Following a tutorial] All was set up as was instructed. Voice recorded too, [i did try without voice first just to see if the Dialogue text would still flash for a second and give me my topic options but no, So i went ahead, removed the quest completely, remade it and did the voicing. Still same thing. NPC wont say a thing. just " Hmm?" or " Yes?" He has a voice type and all that set. And its now beyond me as to why i cant get ANY of my NPCs to say anything. Quest stages were set up too. But nothing in game will work. After retrying the Bethesda Wiki, Word for word. and even some other tutorials such as M1LL3R's Still the same problem!. Can someone please help? Im quickly getting to the end of my tether :(
gasti89
About the 1st question: Forcegreet means "NPC walking to you and entering a dialogue", so i think you don't want this. Instead use "Hellos". Create a quest without any stage, go to misc, right click on the middle window and add new. Then select "Hello". Now right click on the right window and add new. Type your info and put just the NPC's ID as condition. About the 2nd question: it seems your quest isn't starting at all. Have you set some conditioned aliases? Im a little confused about that first part?. Um The conditions even for the testing of the dialogue i used were GetisID, and that was it. When i was testing the actual quest, i used GetIsID and GetStage. Was just talking to a friend and he thinks it might have to do with the sound?, or Lip files?, What im wanting to do is use a blank 6 second sound file to keep the Subtitles up for longer than a half second. At the moment voice acting isnt a issue. Can we do a step by step? Ill make a new actor. ID : TESTdialogue Name: Fizzle Lurker, Short name: Fizzle, Unique. Race is Nord, Inventory set up. Nothing else, So now the NPC does nothing. So to add dialogue when i press Use on the character, i would - Make a quest in Character>Quest called TESTquestdialogue Now from this point could you walk me through it? gasti89
FIRST OF ALL Select *all in the object window, type "maleunique" as filter. Some voice types will pop up. Double click on one of them. Edit the ID, type "MaleUniqueFizzleLurker", gender male. Click ok and yes when prompted to create a new form. Now go on your NPC and scroll the "voice type" dropdown until you find your new voice. This will avoid him saying "Yes?" "Hello?" and that stuff. NOW THE QUEST I'll guide you to make a "hello", so when you pass near the NPC he'll say the line you need, but not entering conversation with you. First tab: only "start game enable" checked. And maybe "Do once" but it isn't important. Quest Stages Tab: create 2 stages. 0 and 10. Select stage 0 and check "startup stage". Aliases Tab: right click, new reference alias. Name it "Fizzle", check "unique actor" and select him from the dropdown. Misc Tab: right click in the central part, new, select "Hello" and ok. Right click on the right part, new. Type whatever you want, click ok. Double click on what you typed, click record in the lower part (you might need to hav something inside the "mic" input, not necessarily a microphone, just insert a jack). After clicking record, you'll see a filling bar, wait 3 seconds and press done. Now click "save" (near record). Click ok.Now go in the conditions part, right click, new. Add the two following conditions: - GetIsAliasRef, select your quest, select your "Fizzle" alias, and type == 1- GetStage, select your quest, and type == 0 Now save and go ingame, enable subtitles and walk near the NPC. I dont have the steam version of Skyrim or the CK. but thats purely because on release i purchased Skyrim for 360 and then again for PS3 a week later, and when the CK was released i couldnt bring myself to pay another $100nzd just so i could use the CK. But anyway, I had no idea that there was 9 updates for skyrim LOL. and my CK version was out. Now that im running both the latest Skyrim and CK, All my dialouge works!, and the quests work too!. I wonder why they didnt work on previous versions?
