Most of you will probably laugh. One character, level 56. been playing since Christmas, almost 300 hours. I'm pacing myself. :whistling: I don't play every day but I plan on taking this guy to level 81. Might even get there by -next- Christmas.

I don't time myself but I have 100's of hours with a small army of retired (failed) characters. My highest level guy was a stealth archer, around level 65. I try to role play and most of my minions wound up as Jacks-of-all-trades and master's of none. Literally. Then I got too much good advice and wound up with some OP characters which were more boring than the failed guys were frustrating. I guess my menagerie averages out to around level 30-35.

My current character is a pure mage at level 38 with around a 100 hours of play. I've purposely avoided most questlines so that I could get a character build suited to my play style before I go for it. Looks like I'll keep this mage and start the "real" quests this weekend. She's pretty "balanced"; an offensive terror compared to any other character I've made, but very weak on defense and I really have to be careful with her. I have self-imposed RPG rules and if she dies now, she's history. Hopefully, I will post here again when she hits level 81. If not, I'll post her eulogy.

Then, if your character die, you will start a new game? And throw everything you done in the trash? This can be a little... AWESOME!

Well, i will never do this, because i only play on Master Difficulty, and it means that my character die all the time.

Try to fight a giant and a Dragon in the same time.

I actually gave myself 3 lives because I had never played a full-on mage before and needed a little practice. She used up two of them early on but hasn't died for about 12 levels. I will start a new game if she dies now but I am an expert in starting new characters. I think I could get through Bleak Falls Barrow blindfolded and not miss a single urn.

Once I complete the main quests, I'll crank it up to Master and try one of my OP guys. Right now its really hard to keep my mage alive on Adept; she can be 1-shotted by archers and a surprise melee fight involves a lot of potions and swearing.

So is level 81 the highest level the player can get in game? I am there and half way through 81 but only because of the last few things I could do and find to push the level meter higher without using console. I noticed that fighting even at 100 causes the meter to move very slightly though.

Well, I read on UESP Wiki a long time ago that maxing all skills to 100 will raise you to level 81. I've never been close to that with any character so I haven't really checked it out. It does seem that USING those maxed skills would keep the XP going up. So, I don't know for sure how high you can go in vanilla Skyrim. I just have level 81 stuck in my head as a target to shoot for.

I maxed out my skills on both my playthroughs and, yeah, it takes you to about 81 1/2 (the max without a level uncapper).

My very first character from the 360 version of Skyrim and was made 1 day after it released still lives on and he is now Level 56-ish. I have done a whole lot of other characters such as a standard one-handed and shield Khajiit/Nord, (The Khajiit is one of my favourites) a dual wielding Khajiit and an assassin Argonian (He has tried to redeem himself because I let him do the main quest.) My first character, a Dark Elf, has 200 hours on it by the way.
