dragonslayer2k12
No matter what mod I use for hangman's alley they all screw up the fast travel marker and kill my fps down to 20 and force me to avoid that settlement instead of using it while in the area. I could go back to vanilla but the turret effectiveness is zero on one side even with mods that move the attacker spawn points farther away. I have one mod that expands the build area on the side near the bridge but npcs get stuck trying to stand on guard posts so they just stand still the whole game. No matter what mod I use for this settlement that seems to happen every time. Can anyone truly fix this settlement so we can actually use it? I wouldn't mind having a whole section of buildings knocked down just to free up some polys on screen but I'm sure the game would crap a brick trying to deal with that. I have scrap everything mod installed maybe that is the real source of the problem ultimately but still it sucks to have a game killing slide show there. After each visit I have to fast travel far away to a more fps friendly place and save then exit and restart my pc to play again.

dikr
I always build it out. It's probably my most popular one and the first one after Sanctuary where I settle down. Love the urban, grungy feel of it and try to preserve that when building it out. Also tried various mods for it with various results. Currently I play it on vanilla parameters and it's my best hangman's experience yet. I made sure to leave the main thoroughway empty so npc's navigate 'alrightish' (but sadly still not between both parts it seems). I tried to scrap as little as possible (only the middle shacks that really stand in the way + the fence & guardpost in the middle), and I built it up in levels along the edges. NPC's will use stairs just fine. (The thin scaffolding ones come in handy). Pretty sure that most precombined meshes are still in tact currently as I get a steady 60 fps when I am there (it's properly filled up and has 10 settlers currently, which I find is about the right amount for this one). Not sure what you meant with turret effectiveness. Mine work just fine on both sides. It's silly that there's a spawn point within the settlement bounds though (in the NE corner of the empty part) but once you know that, you can build around it and put down some fences, triggerplates and flamethrower traps around it. (Just make sure your settlers can't trigger them) Great fun to see them burn as soon as they decide to cheat and pop-in at that spot. dragonslayer2k12
I scrap all the junk and some of the sidewalks so I can put more small stuff in there like scavenging station or a bench to sit on. I have a warehouse garage door on the side facing diamond city with missile turrets on top of it and the other side is so narrow I just put machine gun turrets there so no splash damage no friendly fire incidents. I have this mod that makes the apartments livable and the building with the workbenches into a trade area. The narrow side build limit opens up to the street and a side of the street just after the bridge. This mod looks great but fps sucks real bad once a few settlers start living there. I use this place as a recruitment area so I can send settlers to fill up other settlements fast. I also use it as an operational area for PA missions like clearing out some raider apartments or dealing with something nearby like nick's rescue mission and strong's mission. I think if the whole area could be overhauled to increase fps fix the precombines and whatever else needs to be truly fixed just to get a slightly bigger hangman's alley in there. I really wish someone would fix those respawning supermutants at the diamond city checkpoint after the bridge. I can't stand fast traveling there only to once again hear that pew pew of crappy pipe weapons nearby. Undeadbob666
Not sure if it will help you out (since I think its the mod your using) but I use the mod Boston FPS fix, and it clears up allot of the issues with boston and other parts of fallout in general. dragonslayer2k12
I'm following that mod closely just waiting for some of the newer bugs listed there to be fixed. I use scrap everything mod so it will have some problems with that fps fix mod though.
