Querulous
HiIs Steam the only way to download the Nexus Mod Manager? I'm leary about Steam. I've installed it twice. The first time on Vista and it (as I was told by the tech people I paid to fix my pc) decided that the only programs I would be allowed to run were Steam downloads including most to Vista Itself. Their solution was to reformat my hard drive and have me reinstall everything from scratch. The second time Steam merely crashed the PC everytime it attempted to load.. I still can't bring myself to play CIV V because it uses STEAM.ThanxQ
EnaiSiaion
You can't play Skyrim without Steam unless you are a :pirate:.
bben46
I think you need to find a new computer tech if their only solution to a problem is to reformat. That is a tech solution when they are either incompetent to do a real fix, or just too lazy to do the work. - And I bet you actually paid this guy to force you to reinstall everything too. Multiple millions of gamers use steam without the problems you describe. That makes me believe that steam is not the problem. If they did cause problems like you describe they would not be in business very long. You are far more likely to get burned by viruses and malware downloading from pirate sites who can blame their problems on 'n00b' users and keep right on serving up key loggers, trojans and other malware because their business model relies on allowing whatever the scammers choose to upload alongside the stolen content. To answer the original question, No, Steam is not specifically required to download NMM. But Steam is required to use it properly.
