Shevyi
Hi, Is there a video or a detailed description on how it is possible to modify or manage the load order please? Thx
BigBizkit
Sure, we have documentation on how to adjust your load order here: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Managing_your_Load_Order If you look in the pinned topic on this forum, you will find a number of links to useful/informative Vortex articles in our wikl: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7060326-vortex-help-center-faq-documentation/
Grestorn
@BigBizkit: I find that the documentation you linked is lacking to explain the difference between plugin load order and lose file load order. Most people are having problems with the latter, especially after they've moved over from NMM to Vortex... Because after importing all mods from NMM, they're confronted with loads of file conflicts by their mods and have no idea how to deal with them. Honestly, that's currently poorly handled in Vortex. I can deal with it, but newcomer are probably overwhelmed by the amount of changes and rules they have to add just to get going.

I can deal with it, but newcomer are probably overwhelmed by the amount of changes and rules they have to add just to get going. We refer to them as "load order" for plugins, and "install order" for mods. We have another article explaining the difference with an example here: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/About_Load_Orders I hear what you are saying. It seems plenty of people are confused as to why they "suddenly" have file conflicts they "never had with NMM". Which is why I just added this article as well: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/File_Conflicts:_Nexus_Mod_Manager_vs_Vortex
Grestorn
Thanks for clarifying! Those terms make a lot of sense, but most people still confuse them. It's very handy that you have this article and I will point people to them. However... I'm a software developer for years. And I know people just don't read, especially if a text is a bit longer. The article about load orders is great because they explain everything perfectly, but I'm sure most people are not even starting to read it, because they're just overwhelmed by its sheer length. The second article, about the difference between NMM's and Vortex' handling of the install order, on the other hand, is just perfect. I know there's just no winning, the text is either too long or too simplistic. I suggest to split the text up a bit more into separate articles. One overview, short and up to the point, with links to the more elaborate in-detail articles. This way, people are not that overwhelmed right away. And those articles have to be placed very prominently. Especially in Vortex themselves, like when importing a config from NMM. I've never done that myself, so I don't even know how the procedure in Vortex looks like when doing that, but if it's not already there, there should be a BIG warning that it's not really recommended unless someone wants to put some time and effort into restoring a proper modding config working with their old save games after the import. And some links to those wiki articles as well. The backlash here in the forums and on the Nexus' announcement for Vortex is telling. People are confused, angry and very short-tempered. That'll give Vortex a bad name, and this would really be a shame, i think.
BigBizkit
Thank you for your input - we truly appreciate it. I believe there are some sound suggestions in what you are saying. And, yes, we are looking into providing more information/explanations within Vortex to make it easier for users to find the answers they are looking for when (and where) they arise.
