greenhornet59
Hi Was wondering if maybe I could get some clarification on two things that have been happening to me for quite a while now (just been putting up with them), as I said in the header I absolutely love Fallout 4 but these two things are testing my patience. First---While I am playing the game I can go through quite a few doors and do not CTD but then one random door and bang, CTD but as soon as I reload the game and it puts me back in front of the offending door I click on it and no problems it lets me through, WHY!!!!!!!!! you would think if there was a problem with this particular door then it would crash every time I tried to go through and as I said it is random so I have no idea which door is suddenly going to become evil. Second---When I travel to Far Harbor and go to my settlement at echo lake lumber, I have previously built there but now at certain spots within the build it will CTD and I have tried to install a recruitment beacon but as soon as I connect power to it CTD, so at the moment I have only 3 settlers there and a partially built house, any suggestions on why this suddenly started to CTD. greenhornet59
Thanks for that, as I have quite a few mods it is not going to be easy finding out which one/s are the culprits, I have used Loot and that is not coming back with any conflict and with my limited knowledge of FO4Edit I have cleaned some of the mods but I am not sure how to check for conflicts if any and how to rectify them if it finds conflicts as I could end up doing more harm than good. Any suggestions as to which is the best way to find mod conflicts and how to rectify them, it is obvious something is not right because beside what I have already outlined I am now finding that Synth Shaun who I have at Spectacle Island has suddenly stopped asking me to collect gear for him and beside generic dialogue I can't interact with him anymore plus Ada won't let me recruit her even though she asks me questions I can't reply so I am stuck with both of them on spectacle island and no way of commanding them. Regarding the recruitment beacon at Echo Lake I have the mod "Unlocked Settlement Objects" and it allows you to erect various unpowered Radio Beacons (male only, female only etc). You could try using that and seeing if it doesn't cause a CTD ?
greenhornet59
Okay thanks TheGadget1945 will try but as I mentioned previously it also happens when I hit a certain spot in the build and it crashes then, so there are two issues, one when I build ie putting down floors between levels, putting up a ladder, until I hit the sweet spot and the beacon issue. It could be anything bro !! Not even if you post your load order, we would be able to find the culprit for you. When you ask WHY, is because definitely there is a mod conflict and it is your job to find out which one is it. Have you tried to use Xedit and find out which mods are conflicting with each other? If you have not used this tool, I would recommend to start learn it because it will help you to resolve mod issues. That is why I play only with a set of mods that I have tested for a very long time. Anytime I add a new mod, I do : - read the mod description several times- read all the mod posts ( if I see that it is causing CTD, then I do not continue and I would not download it )- ask questions about compatibility with mods I have ( this questions are directed to the mod author )- if everything looks ok, then I download it and try it ….- if my game start crashing after that mod being installed, then the first thing I do is to DISABLE the mod and see what happens- assuming that everything went back to normal, now I know this most recent mod is the culprit and that's it- at that point, if I still want to have that mod in my load order I am obligated to resolve the conflict via Xedit …. and here is where you need to learn how to use it - …. otherwise, I just simply leave the mod on DISABLE state and continue playing my game … I do not delete it because it is not a good idea to do that at all …. By the way, I am using Vortex. Hope this help. When people start downloading mods without reading and testing, bad things happens ! There are several help in Nexus about load orders. I have tested mine several times as I said, using the same mods all the time and when I found out it was working as expected, I created a spreadsheet with all my mods, comments, tips, etc, etc and the load order they should be installed just in case I need to do it again in the future. That is what I call : do your homework ! Once you do that, you will have a much stable game. Doing the contrary, is a pain in your butt ! Which one do you prefer ?
