Recommended Mod Manager

I've used three different mod managers and all three have different results. When using Vortex more than half of the mods don't work and or the game won't even start. When using Mod Organizer about 3/4 of the mods installed work but skse64 doesn't work or work right. I get a message when the game starts saying it's not running even though I started the game using it; launched within mod organizer. When using NMM almost all of the installed mods work.

I'm wondering what is y'all's go to mod manager? Is there another one besides the three I mentioned?

Sorry but if you are having issues with most mod managers for whatever reason the error must be yours. I used to use NMM and never had any issues I could attribute to the mod manager.

I switched to Mod Organizer and again never had any issues.

Now I play SSE and use Mod Organizer 2 and again never had any issues.

You are using Mod Organizer 2 and not Mod Organizer right?

It can take a little time and experimentation to learn how to get a modded setup working reliably, especially if you have a long load order. Without much information to go on, the best advice I can give you is to keep at it. Most of us obtained our knowledge by messing up and starting over a number of times. You'll get it right with a bit of patience and asking detailed questions. :)

By "yours" you must mean just me downloading mod manager, install it, download mods, install them, run loot, run game using skse - because that's all I've done pretty much. I don't mess with any settings, I don't modify categories, and I don't manually set the load order unless a specific mod instructs that it be at the bottom or in a bashed patch. Yes I was using Mod Organizer 2.

I have two different PC's. I tried one with the vanilla version of Skyrim SE, installed NMM and then installed the unofficial patch. After that I installed Relationship Dialogue Overhaul. Didn't work. Game won't even start. No other mods installed, only what's required. I did that same thing using Vortex and MO2; fresh clean vanilla SSE and then installed the unofficial patch then the above mentioned mod. Didn't work. Game doesn't even start. I did the same thing with the enhanced character edit mod and the mod marriage - to have and to hold. Same result. Game doesn't even start. So I'm thinking... It's not me, it's the mods.

I posted my load order for people to critique but no one ever responded. I use loot for that and wrye bash to check for conflicts and such. No errors have ever come up except wrye bash suggesting a bashed patch.

Ok so theres two possibilities:

1. No one has ever managed to get Relationship Dialogue Overhaul and the Unofficial Patch to work together regardless of mod manager. Despite the fact almost every one that uses RDO also uses the unofficial patch and despite an incompatibility never being reported between the two mods on SSE or Oldrim

Or

2. You have done something wrong

Occams razor

I recommend deleting all traces of mod managers on your system and reinstalling MO2 using an installation guide.

Expect that same guide will show you how to install a mod too.

During installation of a mod in MO2 you are selecting the data folder right?

Not sure how to delete all traces of mod managers other than uninstalling it from control panel. I see some traces left in some folders in the Skyrim directory.

Sure do it through control panel and then go to your mod manager installation folder and manually delete that too.

Then do a fresh install using a guide.

Also use a guide to install SKSE64

I have installed MO2 and SKSE64 a million times but I still use a guide because im paranoid about missing something
