stebbinsd
I decided to try and look at this matter objectively, and I actually noticed five objective, scientific signs that synths really are just the dumb machines that the Institute treats them as. Let me know what you guys think.
montky
I think this was a simplistic prerogative TBH IMHO,it might be somewhat truer for the v1 Synths, (or Kellogg),though less so for other androids later, like Father, Sturges etc. I found the vid conflated intrinsic-lore-wisewith extrinsic "IRL" extrinsicallyI recommend reading H deGaris "On SIPI and SETI: What are the limits of consciousness?"(specifically, the reflections on asymmetric and decoupling of encephalization-quotient from some models).and after that 'heavy reading', then watch Robin Williams "is a shoe alive?"-----from a compatibilist-hylozoistprosentientist prerogative; they're made of atoms - we're made of atoms, they have sensory inputs - we have inputs, they can apply the kipling method - we can apply the kipling method.we can make mistakes or be sick - can they? sure.so, 'we have maintenance, they have maintenance" hehe. AGI is as much a sentient system at that point,as is the other forms of life.it has a lifespan and is subject to entropy and the laws of physics too.
