Editing a mod's patch requirement

Hello everybody!

Some interesting mods on this site unfortunately don't work with a 1.2.0.416 exe because they require an older patch version.

Is there anything I can do to make them compatible with the latest Oblivion patch?

Hmm, could you give some links? I never heard of it being that way around. Plugins made in the 1.2 CS will be silently ignored by a pre-1.2 game executable, that's common knowledge by now, but the other way round is news even to me.

Maybe it's as simple as opening them in the 1.2 CS and re-saving again.

Hmm, that's interesting. I'll definitely give that ESP a try inside my game, but it makes no sense to me it wouldn't work.

They state the game version 1.2.0.214 as required, most likely because that's the version they were using back when it was made, but that's irrelevant to the version of the file. They were in fact most definitely using the 1.2 CS already, like almost all other mods, as there's been only 2 versions of the CS released I know, 1.0.303 and 1.2.404. It shouldn't have made a difference which game version they used to the ESP file their 1.2 CS saved. So this is quite puzzling this fine 1.2 CS version of a plugin shouldn't work now in a 1.2 version game.

But I'll definitely go and check it out for myself at the earliest convenience.

My last line still stands though. If it really is incompatible with the current version game, then it shouldn't take more than opening and saving in the current version CS to fix it. If it can't be opened in the current version CS even though, well, then that's an entirely different story.
