SugarNspikeS
Okay, so I installed vortex and started installing mods for Skyrim SE. I loaded them, enabled them and deployed them. I went to launch the game through the app and gave it permission to alter the game, I get the little hourglass icon for a few seconds then it just stops, the game will no longer load unless I reinstall it and uninstall vortex. I have tried reinstalling vortex a few times with other mods and the only time it worked was when I launched the game with no mods installed. I'm disappointed as it was a great design and easy-to-use interface, but sadly I can't use it if it won't launch the game. I received no error messages and all the folders and game are on the same drive as it instructed. As of right now I have taken it off my computer, but if someone could explain the issue and how to go about fixing it, I would love to re-install it as it looks promising. What do you mean by "gave it permission to alter the game?" What does that refer to?
SugarNspikeS
when I clicked the button in the corner to run the game, a window popped up (similar to the run as administrator windows) asking for permission to allow vortex to make changes to the program or something along those lines. I don't remember the exact text.
AugustaCalidia
Did the window ask you to confirm whether to "save" or to "revert" certain changes made in your game? By the way, do you run Vortex as administrator or not? Tannin (the developer) warns against running Vortex as administrator.
SugarNspikeS
It did not give me any dialog asking to save or revert changes, it only asked for permission to make them. I did not run vortex as administrator.
AugustaCalidia
Was the window in question the UAC window?
SugarNspikeS
I'm not sure what the UAC window is (I'm kind of a novice when it comes to modding) but I clicked the button to launch the game, the window that popped up was similar to the ones that ask for administrator approval in that all the other stuff on the desk top disappeared while it was on screen, it asked for permission to let Vortex make changes to the program (I'm assuming it meant Skyrim SE) I clicked ok and it went away, the mouse courser had the hourglass icon for a few seconds but the game never loaded and wouldn't load after that. AugustaCalidia
It just might be the case that you have some kind of Windows permission problem. If that's so, then your problem is totally out of my league. Fortunately, there are many knowledgeable people on this forum who can competently address that kind of problem. I'm sorry that I could not help you. Let's hope that somebody with expert knowledge will read this thread and comment.
rmm200
Please don't forget - you do not need to use Vortex to launch the game.Stop Vortex and try running the game as if Vortex was not installed.Does it launch - or do you get errors?
